How many pairs is enough?

That is such a great idea. I have thought about that but haven't gone through with it. Also many of my shoes don't come with boxes. I could always use the clear plastic tubs- it would inspire me to put them away after wearing!

Nice to read that I'm not the only one with so many shoes. In my family/circle of friends I am the only one. They call me Imelda...
Thank you! Not my idea, I've seen it on television. I sometimes buy shoes which don't come with a box, too. Then I go and ask at a store whether they have an empty one. I heard that it's good for your feet and your shoes to rotate on a daily basis! ;)

That's good question! I don't think there's a limit on how many pair of shoes a woman or man should have or buys. We can buy as many as we wanted but it really comes down to whether you wear what you brought home. It defeats the purpose of a pair of shoes if you only have it for display and never really wears it because it's a waste of money if you only wear it around your house. Yet if one to have an unlimited funds then I guess you can buy as many as you wanted. I think it's good to have a variety of shoes for different occasions and replenish your current ones once they are well worn, too old or broken/damaged. There's nothing more awful to have spent your well-earned money on a pair of shoes to only have it on display and polish once a while...same goes for other luxury goods or materialistic stuff as well.

I absolutely agree! :tup::tup::tup:

I had to look up Imelda Marcos - that's incredible! Wikipedia says: "After they left Malacañan Palace, Imelda was found to have left behind 15 mink coats, 508 gowns, 1,000 handbags, and 1,060 pairs of shoes. The exact number of shoes varies between accounts with estimates of up to 7500 pairs of shoes. However, Timehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_(magazine) reported that the final tally was only 1,060." :wacko:

I just donated two grocery bags' worth of shoes to Goodwill. I hate scuffed up shoes or if I haven't worn them in a while, out they go.

I have about 25 pairs now, but I think I have enough variety. I have classics like my nude patent Burberry pumps or my Ferragamo flats. But I also have trendier shoes like a pair of studded smoking slippers by Schutz or a pair of sexy wedges by Cole Haan.

Container store sells these great drop-front shoeboxes with clear windows on the front ..each box is sold individually, then you can stack them into a shoe condo :graucho:

A question-would you buy a second identical pair of shoes you already have and wear? I bought a second pair "for the future" when the first pair wears out, the leather is very thin and they are between white and butter color and now think, do I need it? I'm absolutely in love with them, they are perfect in every way, but a second pair...Sorry if this is a crazy question.

I did this with a pair of black flats and I'm glad I did. The original pair is pretty much destroyed and now I have a back up pair.

Yes! bc sometimes designers change production location, leather, etc. and it changes the shoe completely.

Shoes are my vice. Utter vice. More so than bags. My husband noted that I am running out of space. I ignored him:p

Thank you for your POV :smile1: It's a keeper definitely.

I presently have around 10 pairs of shoes at home, three or four real leather boots and sandals, and then two pairs of heels I left under my workstation in the office. I think I have enough. I cannot get enough of real leather ballet flats.

I don't have any of my shoes in boxes. Any time I move, the boxes are pitched and the shoes sort of shoved together! Haha. Right now I have a nice rotating shoe organizer I got from Amazon. It holds maybe 30 pairs of smallish ladies shoes, with space for bags inside -- SUCH a great buy.

My problem is boots. I currently have something like 10 pairs of riding-style leather boots alone, though none bought full-price: 2 Fryes, 1 Manolo, 1 Cole Haan, 1 Coach, 1 Brooks Bros, 1 Dusica, 3 cheaper penny-shoe brands (under $150 retail). Plus 3 lace-up boots and Hunter rainboots. As contrast, I have maybe 3 pairs of flats! I didn't spend a lot of money - all of these were purchased at great discount - but my closet is STUFFED with unworn boots falling all over each other. It inspires so much anxiety to have so many, I feel like I wasted all this money on them and also like I no longer have the right to buy new boots ever again. And what if fashions change? These are high-quality lifetime brands and I am never going to be able to justify shopping for boots again! :cry:
