How many bags do we really need?

Enough to support our wardrobes and lifestyles. I choose my bag each day based on how it compliments my outfit. That usually means a different bag from my closet each day.

Having one bag is very doable. And some people are very happy with one bag. But I don't see any reason to limit myself. I don't own just one sweater or just one pair of slacks or just one pair of shoes. And I think most people would think something was a little odd about me if I wore the same outfit every day without change. It wouldn't be any of their business, but they'd still think I was odd. I have variety in my clothes for my mood and occasion. Same for my handbags. Specifically for me that seems to be around 30 bags.

Before I got into handbags, I was perfectly happy toting around a single large tote everywhere I went. School, weekends, travel, etc.

Now that I am constantly looking out for reasons to add a new bag, I rotate them all the time. But, if I were to be strictly minimalistic, and knowing that I absolutely cannot wear cross bodies:

1. A large simple black / brown tote for work
2. A small-medium tote for weekends
3. A small versatile cross-body that can also double-up as a clutch for dressier evenings

I may add a last small (cheap) crossbody that packs flat and is of a durable material (eg canvas) for travel, but I'm not sure if a $10 is included in our discussion LOL.

I've been inspired by Loquita's on-going "purge collection in pursuit of one bag thread"

Today, as my gorgeous Pauric Sweeney hobo arrived, my son (who's 6) turned to me and asked, "how many bags do you need Mommy?" To which he then proceeded to answer before I could respond...."ONE. I think you should have just one!"

This led me to think...how many bags does a girl/woman need really? I mean we all need an evening clutch, work tote perhaps......but I'm referring to the "everyday handbag".

And when do we draw the line to say, "Enough is enough!"??

I'm not the type to feel subconscious or uncomfortable when I hear remarks like, "another bag?? How many do you own?????"

But the day came today where I found myself lost in thought thinking the same.......have I gone mad? How many bags do I really need? And why on earth do I keep buying more when the last one was/is so perfect????
When I was building my bag collection bags're all I looked for when shopping. And my purpose for a purpose's to rotate so I have a comfortable range of bags to maintain some variety in my everyday. Currently I paused buying and that took buying 28 bags.

Funny! I use to be a one handbag girl. I was happy too! If I like something, I don't easily get tired of it.
