I fell in love with H bags many years before I could afford them. I think about fifteen years ago; for a long time I just dreamed of owning one. And even when I could afford them it still took me another couple of years to justify spending that much on a bag. We’re pretty frugal overall putting loads into savings, dreaming of buying a place on the coast in France someday, stuff like that. Bags didn’t facture into that. But now that I do owe a couple of H bags, ahh I love them! Definitely worth the wait.

I began my appreciation around 2008-2009... My DH and I went in SFO store and I saw a B on display... it was a dark green color and maybe a 30, I wasn’t familiar with sizes and color names yet. I asked to see it, then asked the price and it was $6000 something at the time. I remember feeling shocked and awe. My DH wanted to buy it but I felt it was too expensive for my lifestyle then. And it was just up for grabs, no waitlist, no purchase history, they were willing to sell it to us. Started affording H items 2014, and it’s been an on/off relationship ever since. I think my addiction to H has decreased significantly since I got alot of the bags I wanted already. I only buy a bag once in a year or two, but still buy small stuff like belts or shoes or charms maybe once in a quarter.

Forever!! And ever and ever!! But seriously, you’ll probably get to a point where you are content. I know I am just about at that point. My intention is to keep my “collection” relatively small and with key staple bags that I love and will last a lifetime.

I agree. There does come a point where we all slow down. I know I am in that boat right now for H bags but Hermes has so much more to offer than just bags. Just when I have made my peace with their bags, shawls and bracelets, of course right now I am obsessed with their shoes... so it never really ends.. the focus of our H obsession just changes - from shawls to bags to bracelets to slgs to shoes to god knows what is next... RTW? My wallet shudders in fear

Hehe it’s an affair that will last a lifetime that I am sure of. I often joke that when I am buried to make sure I am head to toe in matching Hermes accessories and maybe at least bury my malachite birkin with me
Hahaha. It is hard to get out of that orange trap. Your post reminded me of a viewing/wake I went to not too long ago. She was an old and well-travelled lady who was decked in her Chanel stuff in her coffin.

I've been addicted to Hermes for 35 years. Ouch that's a long time.

When I was 16, I wanted an Hermes saddle in the worst way. My Dad said no. It sparked a life long interest/obsession. I started collecting scarves in my 20s, SLGs in my 30s, bags in my 40s, and whatever i want in my 50s.
Love this! There’s a lot to be said for the 50’s. Hope you continue to enjoy Hermès for at least 35 more years!
