How do you wear your diamond studs?

i think the prong setting also affects whether they hang or sit high.
kwiat sets stones in 3 prongs, for them to sit flatter to the ear, the more prongs, they tend to dangle.

If mine dangled they wouldn't catch light better. . . facing up rounds catch light best than seeing them from the side . . . if you were facing me and mine were dangling, they'd be facing your midsection, you wouldn't see the sparkle IMO.

I agree about martini settings being able to sit tighter on the ear.

I think maybe the size of the earlobe and hole and the size and setting of the diamond stud can effect if it looks kinda "drooped" on the ear. Really big studs with a lot of metal sitting on a longer earlobe with a stretched hole may "look" like they are kinda dangling even if they are in securely. Personally, I agree with others that it looks like they are about to fall out and facing "downward" isn't the best for catching the light:nogood: I like mine to sit upright and tightly screwed in...

My daughter and I get such a kick out of watching Oprah and her huge earrings - her diamond studs look to be about 8-10 carats each and they dangle out of pure weight/size. But whenever the theme of her show has something to do with frugality or the economy, she trots out a pair of silver hoop earrings. Too funny!

That said, I like studs worn close to the ear, not dangling.

I had a pair of studs that because of the size of the diamonds they kind of drooped forward. So I tried those discs and they looked gorgeous. The diamonds were really large and white almost flawless. A few months later, one of the earrings fell out of my ear and was lost. I will never know if it was the disc but just wanted to share that with you all. Be careful if you use them especially with screwbacks. My next pair I had made with "big backs" and also martini set and they sit very close to the ear.

I'm always puzzled by negative comments about screwbacks.....I own three studs (different sizes) all with screwbacks and I've never lost an earring....The only drawback I've found with screwbacks is they take a long time to put on and take off...they take a good 30 seconds to scew in *each earring* and a good 30 second to unscrew....I even paid extra for screwbacks ...I may be the odd man out but I find those costume-earring type backing to be cheap looking and unattractive.....heck, I almost wish I'd lose a pair, especially if it were my first pair of studs.......which I'm not in love with anymore since I bought nicer, larger ones, but with screwbacks they're not going anywhere even though I wouldn't care that much if I lost them...

I paid extra for mine too because I had always heard they were more secure but who knows. I was also wearing earmuffs around the time I lost my earring so it might have come unscrewed while I was repeatedly taking off and putting on the earmuffs. :(

The backs I have now are hard to take off even when you're trying.
