How do you rotate your bags?

Such an interesting thread, and I love to seeing how you guys rotate your bags. My only system right now is that I only wear my designer bags on the weekends since I have a work bag. Even the bag I'm saving for rainy days (or for places where I still want to look casual/nice but don't want to take my designer bags to) and my Loungefly bag are saved for the weekends only.

I'm still working on an actual system. Since my collection is still quite small, I'm thinking of one bag a weekend. That's all I have so far.

In the pre-pandemic Before Times, I had a work bag for weekdays, and then matched my handbags to my outfits and the weather on weekends. Right now working from home, I haven't touched my work bag in more than a year, but I am still choosing my weekend bag by color and by appropriateness for the season.

I rotate based on daily need and mood. I do try to switch it up every few days. My LV NF's are my work bags but if I'm just running to the store I'll grab a smaller crossbody. I like to rotate fairly frequently so no one bag gets worn out.

Mood/outfit/season/function. . . In that order as I’m not the most practical person

i also love designer and vintage RTW, and I mix that up with non designer

when I get something new, I wear it quite a bit before resting it

I change my purse to match my outfit for days I will do something other than go to work and come back home. I usually start with 1 thing I really want to wear, it could be a purse, shoes, top, dress, etc. Then everything else is chosen to go with that item. I probably change purses a few times a week on average. I keep pretty much all small items in my big clutch wallet, so then I only have to move the wallet and a few other things into each bag, makes it easier to change than having a lot of small loose items.

I’m a purse nerd. So I have a list of my bags on my phone and I track usage to ensure I use all my bags, can quickly identify and exit bags not worn and identify bags with heavy use so I can buy something similar to reduce burnout.

Pre-Covid, I changed bags daily to compliment my outfit while being mindful of individual bag usage to keep a relatively even rotation.

Post-Covid (and most days now WFH in PJ’s) I’m a heap of blubbering tears as my babies aren’t getting worn as much. :whut: I force myself to rotate when I do run errands. But, candidly, I have a 2 year old YSL camera bag that has become my go to and I refuse to beat myself up about it.

To equally rotate the wear and tear of my bags and so that I don’t abuse my bags, I put the 3 day rule in my bags’ usage, similar to shoes.

Every time I use a bag in 3 consecutive days, I switch to another one. I have a bag organizer so it’s easy to switch from one bag to another.

And yes, similar to @Sparkletastic , I do keep a list of my bags on my noted in my phone and highlight them once I finish them in the current rotation. I use this system for almost everything. Perfumes, sneakers, foundations, lipsticks! It works for me so far!

I did at one point have 42 bags. Now I am down to 20 and still feel like that may be too much. I honestly do not use my bags post pandemic. I have a beater bag that gets used for everything. Or if I need anything I have it delivered. Now I am looking for a job that is WFH on a permanent basis. Right now, I am pretty much wearing the same bag daily. Deep down I know the bags that I do have are for my fantasy self but I am not ready to part with them because they are just beautiful bags. Before I would wear my bag once a week before changing it out. Now I may be at home for the entire week or longer.
