OMG! I was just going to make a video on this but i need to voice my opinion right now haha!
Michael Kors bags are really cute and not too expensive. so why not? The only real big problems I have with MK are a couple of silhouettes which are sooo obviously copied (e.g. from celine, LV, etc)
That being said, there are soo many other, simple and classy designs at MK to choose from!

)

You know this comes up loads with Mk but honestly a lot of other brands are guilty of it, truly there are only so many shapes, designs of bags out there. I do think MK gets called out for it moreso than other brands, yes, i know here is where some will argue well they do it the most, not convinced of that...

I don't own tons of brands but i can easily see um, inspired by in quite a few of the more well known brands out there and besides this goes on in any industry from clothes through to cars... just take the time to look around and you see it. ;)

Buy what you love. Who cares about the rest?
I personally don't like MK bags... I do think they are tacky and ugly (just being honest). But if they do the trick for you, that's what matters.

Just look at other forums. People on the Louis Vuitton forum criticize other brands, same on the Chanel or Hermès forums. It's normal to identify with one brand and not with another. Also taste changes over time and you may fall out of love with Michael Kors and move on to other brands. I know I did fall out of love with Gucci bags a couple of years ago, sold them and never looked back.

Some may question why I read this MK forum if I don't purchase MK products. It's simple, I browse many forums on TPF and enjoy reading about what gets you guys excited and happy!

I agree with this 1000%!! I purchase MK because I love everything about it. The fashionable colors and leathers and everything from his jewelry to clothing. Maybe to is just the fact that people are out there that would rather buy quality for $300 then for $1000+ that some other people just can't stand so therefore haters are going to hate.

That's awesome fabuleux!!

I personally don't have the capacity to deal with the anxiety that arises from caring for such expensive bags.

On Tuesday of this week, I decided to sample the high end feel of Chanel. Below is my story:

So I decided to go into the Chanel store today to see what all of the hype was about. Dressed in less than impressive clothes, I must say the SA was quite nice. Unfortunately my training warrants casual and comfy clothes so that's what's in my suitcase. She excitedly brought me a lambskin bag to try that was priced in the same range as a early 2000 model Nissan truck. I took a deep breath and as I picked the bag up I was sure the angels were going to start singing. Folks that dabble in these luxuries usually describe bags at the same level of a pornographic novel. "Look at how soft it is... I just want to keep touching it... Uhh ...oh yeah... The smell... (((Inhaled and breathes deeply))) ... So I felt like I too would like to try handbag porn. As I picked the bag up, a visceral reaction consumed my body and I am pretty sure I started to develop a stress rash. In my minds eye there was Mr Krabs from Spongebob Squarepants playing the smallest violin ever. The angels never arrived but rest assured .. disappointment arrived right on time. I thought back to that gorgeous Susannah tote at Bloomies and how much more I enjoyed the leather. I noticed the Chanel was already scratched and the hardware didn't wow me. I smiled and politely thanked the SA for helping me check off an item on my bucket list. Whattttts the moral of the story here. I am either cheap or thrifty. And I am going to buy a Susannah tote. Handbag nirvana has been reached.

There will always be someone that thinks MK is tacky and in their social circle that opinion is pervasive. People want to be liked and if those are your friends and they have the money to spend on such luxuries, then you easily comply with the social pressures. Research supported and all.

And the best part about MK: I feel that more people can afford it due to their sales, etc. So I am seeing more people carry MK = designer bags which warms my heart! It makes me sick seeing people carry fake bags, I honestly hate that! So thanks to MK, more people can afford a real brand! And thus, they will be less tempted to buy an imitation.

Not saying that people who buy MK would usually buy fakes, god forbid!! but i hope u can see what im saying?? :)

So, I am beyond grateful for MK for designing high quality bags for a relatively affordable price. I myself am not planning on buying a MK (I only fell in love with one model but it got discountinued and i forgot the name :( )
But I go to MK for sandals and flats! Last week, I purchased beautiful nude flats for 37€ instead of 75!! Loving the 50% off sale.

So to anyone rocking their MK bags, rock on!! :)
I think many designers copy each other. If it is in style, they produce their own version. I think that is what I love about MK. He makes luxury looks affordable and of great quality.

Yes, but MK also has a luxury line of very expensive bags that range up to $10,000.00! So I don't know where these snobs get off thinking MK is not a luxury brand, when movie stars like jessica Simpson and MANY others are wearing them on the Red Carpet affairs!

Just because he started the MMK line so more could afford them, does not make him bad! Coach did the same thing with their outlets and sales. So what? I wonder what the snobs think of hand made bags of no brand?? People like that are so shallow.

You are absolutely correct! They DO copy each other! ALL of them! There are only so many styles and shapes a handbag can be, and after centuries of women wearing them, a design is bound to be repeated. To single out Michael Kors for this ONLY, is just plain ignorant! I've seen MK accused of it many times and just shake my head at the stupidity. All designers make similar bags of each others, and frankly MK has some beautiful original designs. Too bad they just don't know what they are talking about.

I would never call anyone's sense of style tacky or ugly. That's plain rude and I would like to think I'm better than that. Personally, all I like is Michael Kors, but that doesn't stop me from complementing any nice bag. I've seen soooo many bags "inspired" by designers. I just think it's "in" at the moment and move on. I'm not here to impress anyone but myself. If anything's tacky and ugly it's them and their attitude. When did it become okay to put someone down because of their preferences? When people start choosing bags over people it infuriates me. I've even heard some say they'd rather own a fake LV than a genuine MK. Really? The poor child working it's hands to the bone in a factory is less important than a bag? The girl sold in human trafficking is less important than a bag? Like where do people get off? How is that okay? Ignorance, selfishness, and messed up priorities. I have better things to spend my time on than someone else's style. End of rant! Lol, enjoy your bags everyone! 😁

That was so funny and quite visual I might add!! I just love handbags period, so I could care less what anyone else is carrying so long as their happy, satisfied and content with the purchase they made. I buy high and low end because I go through phases quite often and my handbag love runs deep so one day it might be Fendi, the next day coach (vintage only), LV or MK. I not sure where women get that "handbag shaming" from but I won't ever be a part of it. BTW.. I only like vintage coach because the leather is not that thin stuff they make nowadays.

I am not very much into handbags. I never was, but when Michael Kors started to get popular I started buying the bags. I love them. They are fantastic quality at a good price, look great, timeless and classy. I don't care what people think. I could afford 'high end' designers, but then I wouldn't have money for my other passion: travelling and fine dining.

I know many young girls who go into debt to buy a high end designer bag. I don't want to be one of them.

Agreed!

I think a lot of it also has to do with the popularity of MK right now. It's easier to spot the "inspired by" MK designs because MK is everywhere at the moment.

This is awesome I read all you guys opinion and yes I agree with you guys 100% I do own luxury bag and contemporary and my bags has purpose everytime I switched my bags. The other day I purchase the MK version of WOC wallet on chain. Im very happy with my purchase and I already worn it 3 times since I got her 4 days ago. I got a compliment on it when I went to my dentist appointment. ofcourse we all know that this style of bag is from Chanel there famous WOC. But for me I don't care that I didn't pay 2100 on my Hudson Aka WOC. As long that I'm happy with my bag that's all matters.❤️
