vintage bags are amazing. I have a 65 year old Kelly that's still stunning. not sure what the issue could possibly be with a vintage bag. if you want something that has never been touched by another human you'd have to 3D print it yourself.
personally I like that my older bags were valued by some woman long ago....went to the kind of parties that very rarely happen nowadays...were maybe carried by white-gloved hands...maybe they danced at the Rainbow Room in NYC or gambled in Monte Carlo with a British spy. Very romantic.
it is also more ecologically responsible to buy vintage and in my experience the quality is better (my 1952 Kelly doesn't have as much as a loose stitch).
Currently I own the truly vintage Kelly (1952), an Hermès Drag (1960s), another Kelly from 1980, and since the 90s are almost vintage now, I have an Hermès Trim from the late 90s. I also have a beautiful, nameless alligator bag from the 60s.

LOVE THIS!!!

Hi all, I am very new to designer bags and just started my hunt for vintage bags. I am looking for exotic specifically, because the new exotic leather bags are quite expensive, I won't wear them very often, so getting vintage exotic bags seems to be a financially and eco-friendly choice. I was wondering if anyone has experience with Morabito or Comtesse? I came across these two brands for their vintage bags on social media a lot, however I have not actually seen any of these bags - I think they don't have any boutiques in US anyway. I would like to know if their craftsmanship is actually as good as the social media says that is comparable to Hermes. TIA!

Mine aren't vintage yet, maybe only 10 - 12 years old but I can definitely see the differences in quality.
I have Koobas, Botkiers, Hayden Harnetts, Cole Haan, and a Linea Pelle bags and the quality of the leather, the attention to detail, the linings-they are so much nicer than new bags I see now.
I would buy a 20 year old bag that was nicely made with great leather if I saw one I loved.

I love vintage bags. I have several. I had one non-designer leather bag that I bought because the leather was worn in such a gorgeous way that it made me look like we had been around the world many times together. I love a bag that looks like it has lots of interesting stories to tell. My favorite suitcase is the same way, an old Samsonite from the early 90s. It really has been around the world with me many times, and it shows it in the most interesting way with lots of scuffs and scratches. I had a stranger in an airport tell me my suitcase looked like it had "been a few places". Isn't that the point? Lol. I thought that was a wonderful compliment. Most people on this forum would have thrown that suitcase away long ago.

Old suitcases are built better.
And new will be beaten to death by luggage handlers, in 2 trips, anyway.
Enjoy your stories.

I just bought a vintage Valentino bag. I did a little digging and I found someone selling a Valentino Di Pietro bag with this logo. I tried to google it but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if this is a real Valentino bag?

I just purchased a vintage Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Mombasa and a vintage Black nylon Lady Dior. The leather on the Mombasa is thick. The straps need some attention so it is at the spa right this moment. The Lady Dior came in excellent condition, and is getting a cleaning at said spa to address a stain on the bottom corner. I don't think the nylon was ever washed before. Fell in love with the Lady Dior design after this experience. Barely any tarnish on either of the bags.

Vintage to me equals excellent design and materials!

Love them.
I have a couple true vintage bags from decades ago. One I don't carry, it's just out on show. But the other one I got from my Mum a couple of years ago. It's a large doctor's bag from late 80's or yearly 90's, I've been doing a slight refurbish on it and I'm going to use it as a travel bag.

Hi, I bought this Lady Dior Vintage at Vestiaire Collective and I still have doubts about it even though it has been authenticated. The grommets on the handles look weird to me how do you guys see it?photo_2022-05-14_17-30-20.jpgphoto_2022-05-14_17-30-23.jpgphoto_2022-05-14_17-30-21.jpgphoto_2022-05-14_17-30-22.jpg
