I have some vintage Coach bags from when Coach was actually made in New York. I've dated one from the 1960s. I have a Dior Double Saddle Bag that I bought recently, but I'm not real sure if it's considered vintage. I also bought a Gucci Bullet bag, but it's from the Tom Ford era. I get the most compliments on this bag.
I wear the Coach bags, and I love them. The leather is so thick yet soft. The Dior is beautiful.
I would LOVE to have a vintage Chanel. Their newer styles don't really interest me.

Coach bags used to be so beautifully crafted. Then they started turning trendier and it seems like the quality went south. I too think the vintage coach bags are very nice.

Vintage is 20 years old!

I bought a vintage Dior with the monogram print RIGHT before their current collection exploded, and I'm so glad I did. It cost $100, and since it became trendy again I haven't been able to find any that cheap!

I think vintage bags are beautiful and unique. I think in general though that I would prefer to age with my bags or inherit them from someone I know, rather than pick them up from a stranger! I like having that personal connection, and I would love to watch a bag patina over time.

I love vintage bags, I have a 60 year old Kelly, a 46 year old one too.
A green Valentino ....

I only have one bag over 20, and I enjoy the thought that it's been cherished by its previous owner. I always have a good feeling when I carry it. I suspect it had a much more interesting life before it met me! Vintage bags that make it through in good nick have invariably been beautifully made, using quality leathers, and been very well looked after. What's not to love about that? They have character and it makes each one very special IMO.

O M G a 65 year old Kelly?! Amazing! You must post pics of it....I'm dying to see it. And you brought up a wonderful point, the vintage bags were made so much better than bags now. Even my high end bags haven't held up as well as the old Dooney & Bourke I had in high school ( many moons ago [emoji15]).
Oh, and a Hermes from the 60's? I think I'd die to see your collection of bags [emoji7].
I never thought of vintage bags the way you mentioned, to think of where they've been. That puts an entirely different spin on it. I'm SO buying that bag now.

Yay! :flowers:
I'm traveling but when I get back will pull out the vintages and take a photo - have never done that!

How old does a bag have to be to be considered vintage?

I have heard 20, 30, and 35 years. Antique is 100 years for most items. A "vintage" car is 1930 or older (Classic is 20 years in the US, pre 1973 in the UK); a "vintage"watch is 25 years old or older -even though watches have been around longer than cars; vintage clothing is 20 years, all by most professional definitions. So 20 years is a safe number :) I feel for me that over 30 years feels really vintage, probably because that's "before my time" :p

You were a fortune telling seer on that bag. I would have sworn that they wouldn't have brought it back so strongly. Great job on having the eye and congrats on getting a steal! it Logan like it's in perfect condition too!
