How do you feel about K-M Graded Diamonds?

I've seen a K round in yellow gold. It's was a big honker too..3 ct. I liked it, but it didn't seem purposful enough. I've loved M's that I've seen in the past. I agree that I wouldn't set it in white gold unless it was an older cut. In RG or YG I think they'd be lovely.

At the end of the day, grading is just a number. Especially when you are looking for colored diamonds, or low-color whites. What you thing is "fancy" is someone else's "fancy intense" and your "J" is someone else's "M". You need to see the stones.

I blindly purchased a K old-mine, thinking it would be a beautiful pale brown... and when I got it, it seems like it faces up white.

Good luck!

I LOVE low colored diamonds...in old mine cut or old rose cut stones. in fact, my client today had a 3ct K-color STUNNER on!!! it was in a platinum art deco setting with higher color side stones. I disagree about the WG settings, I think they make the color & colored flashes from a low colored stone pop even more

It depends on the look you want. I have a stunning pair of K-light brown pear earrings set in rose gold and they do not look dirty at all. The gold reflects into the stones and they have a warmish pinky tone. For a e-ring my preference is in the G-H-I range though. I think once you get into these ranges it is really important to see the stone in person.

Saw a mens Harry Winston watch & band someone had covered with K-L colored diamonds. 40 cts! It was TDF. An understated elegence rather than an in your face D colored bling. The jeweler did a fabulous job matching the stones.

I would say that a K is fine color-wise, but you need to make sure the stone is very, very clean. So if you are going to go low color, do a VVS1 or VVS2 and make sure it is certified by a reputable lab. I personally love diamonds in the K color.

These sound gorgeous! I am definitely looking for some light color but it will be for a solitaire. I have an E color e-ring and don't like it. I will get this in addition to.

Thank you! The one i was looking at is a VS1 so maybe it won't be clear enough. Sounds like K really borders on white so i might need to go even lower, like L or M...

What is your reasoning on this? VVS1 and VVS2 are not necessary in any color range, so I am curious where you are going with this train of thought. Is this education telling you this or what?

VS1 is perfectly clean. VS2 might even be. Just because it's lower color doesn't mean it needs to be ridiculously high up the clarity scale.

Worry more about cut quality than the clarity. I personally stick to VS1 myself, but if it is well cut that is where sparkle is. NOT in the clarity.

I appreciate this! You have a lot of knowledge on this topic around this sub-forum, so thank you! I get to see it early next week so I guess I'll just have to see what the cracker jack box holds for me. I am hoping it has a warmth and a tint but is cut well and sparkly so we shall see. I feel like it is pretty pricey for the color grade so i'm hoping that premium is in the cut.
