I'm curious to see how you feel about diamonds in the K through M color range? Is it just enough tint of pale yellow to appear "bought and done on purpose" or do they just look like dirty diamonds?

I think they are awesome in the older style cuts and in cushions, though in a modern regular round they are not my favorite. I don't know that I'd say on purpose for a regular RB, but I would for an older style cut.

I love them if they are bought purposely low and appear that way. I can see where you don't want it to seem like you didn't purposely buy a low diamond hoping it would be whiter. So I think I'd like the L and M over a K. K would be too borderline maybe trying to be white. And I'd prefer it without fluorescence to purposely not hide the yellow. And to really bring that out I'd stay away from white metals and stick with yellow gold or a nice rose gold. To really make it say "I know it's yellow and I love it!"... Especially in a nice intricate setting... Yummy.

And like ame said, best in chunkier cut older stones.

I have two that I was considering. Both pears, both 1.5 carats. One is a K with VS1 clarity and the other is an M but it has SI2 clarity. I won't know for sure if the K appears more white or yellow I guess until it gets here but this is great advice. I need to make sure there is a definite yellow tint. The jeweler had a K marquis, 3/4 carat that had the tint of a pale yellow post it note (lol) so it was an obvious yellow. But is that hard to find in a K?

A K will not be AS post it as an M. I think if you want a definite yellow go M or lower actually. But the SI2 isn't appealing to me at all.

Yeah i didn't really want an SI. Maybe i should look at both and if i like the M color better i will wait for one with better clarity even though they're a little hard to come by. I wonder why that K was so yellow?

It was probably a low K or not graded by a major lab. Also of note: when you get below about an I the ranges on color are wider. A high J versus a low J, etc.
