How do y’all handle rude comments on social media (or in real life) about your LV bags?

To be honest, I very rarely post my bags and luxury purchases on my public social media. Never unboxings.

I have my private IG account for my personal life.
And I have a separate personal "lux" IG account just for my luxury purchases/photos alone. That IG is basically for me. Just for me to take cute photos of my stuff and admire my personal belongings on a photogenic level lol.
I do not share that lux IG account on my public social media. I don't publicize it.
I've probably only told like 10 close friends about it.
If someone happens to find it and follow me, cool, I don't really care unless that person is stalking me.

I used to do Youtube years ago. I was never focused on luxury. I did unboxings and shopping hauls. But along the way, I realized I preferred a private life more and I stopped. I don't recall getting hate comments or anything like that. It's just not my thing anymore and I'd rather do other things.

I'm the same way. I have a private IG for friends/family where I post stuff from my life. And then I have a separate account for purse/beauty/fragrance stuff where I play around with photography and interact with other people with similar interests. No one I know in real life knows about that account.

Your time and attention are limited. I wouldn't waste any of either responding to people, or giving them a moment's thought beyond just deleting any stray rude comments you get. It's just not worth it. You won't be able to fix or understand them, or get them to change their ways, so just delete and move on.

I had a large luxury IG account and walked away do to how toxic I found it to be. It’s been 2 years and I’m happy with enjoying my luxury purchases in private. If your going to put yourself out there you will have to be prepared for the trolls that are out there. It’s always best not to engage with them.

I don't have any social media accounts. TPF is as close as I get to conversing online with strangers. Lol. And the reason I like it here is because we all share the love of luxury items, although there are sometimes nasty comments.

This is me too! I only post about my handbags on TPF.

I don't have my bags online apart from here, but I would totally ignore such comments and let those people embarrass themselves like they do. They want to bring you down, and they want your energy and attention. Don't give them anything

Same! I do like unboxings as I don't live close to many of the boutiques and it's nice to see what the bag looks like, and what it holds.

I watch unboxing videos when researching a potential purchase. I luckily live close to luxury stores but I like to go with purpose. I do follow Ca$$ie, Sophie Sohet, and Isabella’s style on YouTube, and watch most of their purchase hauls to gauge trends and styling ideas.

I don´t use my social media accounts for posting any of my stuff. I rather follow a few accounts that are interesting to me. The only places I share my bags & stuff are tpf and a facebook group (but rarely).

Any type of material goods presented on the internet will lead to both positive and negative responses. Even something as innocuous as Legos…

Reacting only feeds the trolls. Unfortunately the internet is a festering cesspool due to the perceived lack of accountability that many people have with regards to their comments and actions.

My suggestion is to just block people and move on!

That's the only reason I watch those! I like to hear the pros and cons, see what it holds and see mod shots. I don't live near a boutique either and if I go to one, they rarely have what I am looking for in stock.

Same here. I’m not near any luxury boutiques so I always watch a lot of YT videos to see size, and specifics. However, I definitely prefer those that get to the point. I always fast forward through the actual unboxing, when they talk about their personal life, or just randomly go on about random things that don’t have anything to do with the bag. I don’t follow anyone on YT, so I just search for the specific bag I’m looking at buying.

It's the anonymity, hiding behind a keyboard. This seems like a much more positive place to share! I find the negativity is still here occasionally but a lot less. Keep showing your beautiful bags here!

Who cares what people say as long as you like the bag. It’s so easy to say mean stuff hiding behind a computer screen. You are letting her win by getting so upset. I can’t recall anyone in real life saying anything negative about my bags. I don’t know if it’s the platform but I rarely see negative comments on people I follow posting their bags. Maybe it’s more of a YouTube thing? Did you post it on IG? Anyway, your IG page is adorable and the lady is probably jealous.

YES i don't follow specific people but am always just searching for a bag hashtag or description and watching the unboxings.

i do hate when they take forever to show the bag! like when a blogger tells a whole story before posting the recipe! i don't care about your garden and babies! i care about YOUR PASTA!!!! haha!

it's really not negative here at all! even when people don't like a bag, they explain why it doesn't work FOR THEM or they just say congrats and keep moving. the LV reddit isn't super negative either! and actually, everyone on tik tok has either ignored or been pleasant! it's JUST instagram where people seem to be fine with being rude. i will be keeping my bags off IG unless they just happen to be in a photo and just use my IG as my personal page. i will definitely be keeping my tik tok strictly for bag stuff and not cross posting between IG and tik tok!

i really did get so upset! i am SUCH an emotional person and i am working on that. it's very silly to let a stranger affect me so much!! (adds to notes for my therapist this week HAHA) the rude comment was from IG where i DO find people to be generally more rude. the luxury community on tik tok has been very nice so far (i just joined less than a month ago) and everyone on here is just a gem! reddit is pretty great too! and thank you!!! i like IG because i like VISUALS and it encompasses both photos and videos! but it's over for my bags on my IG! i will be using IG for personal friends and family and tik tok strictly for luxury stuff. thanks for your input, my LVoe

I’m sorry she got you so upset, she has the problem not you. You can make your IG account private and that way you control who follows you if you want to continue posting luxury items….or just block her ….. She probably would not say that to you in person but since she‘s behind a computer screen she can say all sorts of rude stuff.
