How do I buy a Birkin?

I'm sorry, but I'm finding this endless discussion (ongoing from the Authentication Thread) redundant. An SA who says that you have to spend a certain amount to "qualify" for a Birkin or Kelly should be reported to Corporate. That's totally against policy. Secondly, you can't assume that the customer who bought the Birkin was a walk-in. They may have pre-ordered the bag or may have been a long-time customer of the boutique. I can understand your frustration at not being able to buy what you want...it's happened to everyone on TPF, I am sure, at least once, and probably more. It's part of the Hermes experience. It's just the nature of being an Hermes lover....frustrated and in love at the same time.....

Yes, I agree and I understand your point. But I think you misunderstood my point of view. I am not trying to flame on the walk in person, nor how she got the Birkin with a knock off Brikin walking in. I also got my first Birkin as a walk in in Hawaii. My frustration is on my SA, everytime when I try to talk to her about Birkin. She told me it is hard to get a birkin, I need to spend more (especially on RTW or houseware) / CHANGES SUBJECT or just shake head without saying anything. The SF store SAs cannot get their “rules” right. :pout:

Sorry, my rant is on my SA, not on the walk in. and I just wanted to share my poor experience. :smile1:

Okay… my rant is out. Let us continue with Birkin adventure! Good Luck everyone~ :rochard:

Just wanted to add my experience.

I've been a small time Hermes buyer for a few years now. I mainly buy items in my home city, Sydney but have bought a bag in Dubai and one in Paris (both walk ins and not Kellys or Birkins) and scarves in Malaysia.

I recently went to Hawaii hoping to be a walk in Birkin or Kelly owner but had no luck. I bought scarves at the Ala Moana store and my SA told me that it was advisable to show an interest in 'other items'... if I 'got her meaning' in order for the purchase of a Birkin or Kelly to made easier for me. I have to say though that every other SA I met in the Hawaii stores never mentioned this when I enquired about the bags.

I've been on the list for a Birkin in Sydney for a nearly a year now and got called to say that my request has come in. I will be looking at it on Saturday - 35cm togo Birkin in blue jean. I don't have a specific relationship with the SAs there but they have all been friendly to me. I am not invited to VIP events. So not really sure how I got to the top of the list.

HTH

Congratulations!!! Patience does pay off! I'm sure you will be thrilled with your blue jean baby! I visited the Sydney store when I was there on business a couple of years ago, I found the SAs to be both very nice and professional.

not sure where else to post this as I am fairly new and cant start a thread but I found this amusing, I was in the Hackensack store this morning and a woman came in looked at a bag and asked "is that a birkin?" the sales person said no the customer asked if they had any and was shown a picture in the binder, she asked how much.
I thought that was pretty funny. If you have to ask which is the Birkin I dont think you should get one do you?
Anyway they are very nice there
