How Commission Works at Hermes NYC Madison

Sorry - another question. So, they don't have the color I want in the Madison boutique. Assuming I can exchange at Wall Street but if that happens, will my SA still get the credit since I originally purchased from even though I exchanged at Wall Street. Thoughts?

the credit will still go to the original SA you purchased the item from at madison

Thanks a lot for the comments! So if one day I hope to get an opportunity to order a SO from madison (I am already a regular customer in the leather/silks department), do you think I also need to start establishing a relationship with SAs on other floors? a bit confused about this whole SO process (I doubt that just buying silks/leather goods is enough to get me a SO?) and how the relationship building works at madison

Just FYI, I was offered SO after purchasing a b40 and a jige I think from my SA. That was last year, and it was my first time being serviced by her. I was there once before that and bought a Constance wallet and a couple accessories I think, so I don't think you have to spend on other departments such as RTW or jewelries in order to get SO.

Sorry to respond to your old post but just discovered this thread. Yes, all the computer systems are linked so not only can each boutique see what you've purchased from other boutiques but also what you've ordered from the Hermes.com website. As long as you have the same shipping address on the web as the one on file at the boutique then they can see everything.

Unfortunately when Hermes updated their computer systems a few years back, all previous info was lost so it's only from that point forward that they now have your history. Sorry but I don't remember exactly when that was but likely around 2011 or early 2012.

Hello - have a question on exchanging an item.

I bought a beautiful wallet from my SA this week but upon coming home, I realize it's too small and want to exchange it for a bigger size. I want to go tomorrow but my SA is not there. If I exchange it, can I still give him the credit for the sale of the larger wallet? Or, am I better off just going on a day that I know he is working?

Also, I did ask if he could help me choose a scarf but he said that he can't go upstairs and recommended someone on the 1st floor who could help me so I don't think all SA's are interchangeable (unless he is not SA and something else like the manager!)

From what I have been told, a new policy just went into effect at Madison. SAs can no longer move between 1st and second floor. If you have a relationship with an SA who is now on the silks floor, you have to be on their list so that they can take you to the leather floor. If you are not on their list or not approved to be on their list, you will have to get 2 SAs..one on each floor. This is reverting to how it was a few years ago.

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense. I assume that anyone on the first floor (meaning the floor where the main entrance is) can help with any item on that floor? The SA helping me with bracelets can help me with a scarf? Also assuming that if I want to call someone re a bag I need to call my SA on the ground floor?

Assuming, it has to be under your name. I'm only asking because my husband buys a lot of stuff for me at Wall Street and it would be great if our accounts could be linked since we live in the same house and have the same last name. All his H purchases are for me anyway :)

If you an exchange an H.com order in the boutique my understanding is that the SA who helps you gets the commission from that exchange. Is this correct?

If you purchase an item at boutique A and then exchange for another item at boutique B, which SA gets the credit for the sale? Is it the SA at B?

^Both questions are about US boutiques.

When I have done an exchange in the past with different boutiques, the receipt stated that the sales associate who helped me originally was credited with the sale. However, this was an even exchange (same item, but different colors).

If you order from H.com and exchange at the store, the SA who helped you gets commission.

If you buy an item in Madison and exchange in Wall Street, the SA at Madison still gets commission. However, if you exchange in another boutique, the new SA will get it.
