How can I get smoky smell out of my new bag?

I purchased a really cute woven straw canteen bag from Marshall's yesterday. I really love it EXCEPT it smells inside! It has a brown fabric liner and when you open the bag, it smells like smokey bacon bits! No lie! The bag has a tag that it was made in India. I think they use a lot of natural dyes and it almost smells like smokey paprika but the girls at the register said bacon bits! I don't eat them so wouldn't know.

How can I possibly get this smell out??? It is so bizarre! It is only on the inside of the bag so it must be the lining. I told the cashier to double bag it and tie it up! I didn't want it stinking up my trunk! I put some dryer sheets inside, tied it back up and stuck it out on the porch. I have a charcoal thing to use but can't seem to find it at the moment. It is a nice one and almost don't want to waste it on this bag! I have a feeling it is going back!

Anyone else ever have this experience??? Just crazy! What we won't do for a handbag! I'm going to see if cutting the lining out would be possible but then think the sides would be exposed when open and my things would fall out.

I got tobacco scent out of Legacy lining with 50/50 white vinegar water, sunshine, and wind. Here is the link in case you want to try it.
