Short for summer! Hilary Duff debuted a new, shorter hairstyle on Instagram on Thursday, May 29, and it was a decisive move, her stylist, Marcus Francis tells Us Weekly exclusively.
"She texted me last night and wanted to do it right away," Francis tells Us, "We wanted a bigger change for summer and just to feel healthier in general."

The mom to Luca, 2-years-old, ended up chopping off three inches from her blonde locks. Francis shares the cut is "blunt" and "slightly more angled having it shorter in the back," and adds he gave the songstress "a few longer layers to give it movement."
As for the final result, which the singer-actress shared in an Instagram pic of tagged "#Selfie," Francis says "she loves it."
"She loves it and feels like it'll be easier to style," he tells Us. "She actually wanted it shorter when we first discussed the cut, but once she saw what three inches looked like, she felt the length is perfect. She loved that the hair looked and felt thicker."
To get a style like Duff, Francis says he used "Suave dry shampoo for the matte, day-old clean hair" look.
