The Obenauf's LP heavy Duty should be perfect , the Blackrock should be OK also but it might be a bit thick or dried out if the top wasn't on tightly.

Hi Docride!
Thank you so much! Would you recommend treating a new box birkin? I treated my old one more for the waterproofing. I haven't done it for my new bag but was thinking I should.

Hi, Sounds like you put too much of something on your wallet and didn't remove the excess and perhaps didn't buff out well enough...

Step 1> clean the surface, make sure to remove excess cleaner /conditioner the surface should not be tacky or stitcky.

step 2> apply color cream evenly in small circls and sparlingly allow it to set for a few minutes...

Step 3> Use a soft shine brush to buff off excess and bring up shine

Step4> Use a soft polishing cloth (lint free) and buff to high shine

Your finished work should be smooth and glossy and not tacky, not stitcky and not greasy.

I hope this helps.

Hi Doc,

What sound I use the Zaphir concentrate for and the Canadian cream for?

Hello everyone, I have a vintage emergency and need everyone's help, please! I recently purchased a black box Kelly from 1960. The leather was a little dry on the handle, etc. so I took it to a guy I've been using for years. He specializes in shoes (He does all of the shoe repairs for my local Neiman Marcus store.) but is also a general leather guru. I showed him the bag, and he assured me that the bag just needed a good conditioning. I picked it up yesterday, and the leather looks incredible. Then I went to open the bag and saw that the conditioner he used (I can tell it was black because there was a tiny bit on the bottom side of hardware.) completely erased/covered the "Hermes Paris" stamp. The imprint is left behind, but the gold is GONE. What do I do????? I'm so devastated that I can't even cry. Please help!

Congrats! Vache Espace is similar to natural Charmonix and Vache Natural, it's going to get spots and water marks unless you treat it.. teating it can speed up the deepening of the color...to treat or not to treat is really up to you... I personally like to treat because I cringe at water marks and stains that I know could have been prevented...I treat my saddle leathers like I treat my saddles with saddle products (like Hermes saddle baume,Hermes saddle milk and Hermes saddle oil)and frankly I am quite pleased with my results. When I bring my home treated saddle leather Hermes bags into an Hermes boutique the SA's often comment on how beautful their patina's are and some even want to take photos of them... so I personally have not had any problems with Hermes regarding them... However I can not speak for Hermes and accepting or rejecting a bag for service is of course their call entirely. Do keep in mind that Hermes spa will not remove water marks from natural leathers. Perhaps you should see about sending the bag for spa now and see if Hermes will treat your bag with Hermes saddle leather products during the spa? Then you would at least have some protection from water spots and stains? I hope this is helpful? Good luck with your choice :smile1:

hiya doc, quickie question, so if there is already water marks on a vachee naturale leather, can we still treat it to make the marks gone? or we just have to live with it?
if we can treat it to even it out, what is the product that you'd recommend? thANKS SOmuch! in advance :smile1:

Hi.
A conditioner shouldn't have done that.Perhaps it's polish? Ask your leather guy to clean it off the stamp for you

Most of the time they are going to stay hwoever sometimes a good cleaning can make them less noticable and conditioning will deepen the over all tone which makes them blend more into the patina.

Hi Doc,

Thanks for your response. I took the bag back into my leather guy, who was only able to remove a miniscle amount of the black on the logo. He told me that he added black, water-based dye to the conditioner he applied. I'm really angry he didn't tell me, but I'm going to ship the bag to Hermes tomorrow, so hopefully they will be able to fix things.

Does anyone know if this type of error can be fixed in San Fran or if the bag will have to go to Paris? Also, any idea of cost?

Thank you all!

Best wishes

Good luck with that.
