Hermès store to open in OSLO in October

A little update :smile1:

I was in Oslo last week (i live way way up north in Norway), and took a crappy cellphone picture in pouring rain, of the soon to open Hermes store.

I spoke to my SA at the Mulberry store, and she said the Hermes was set to open November 1.

It will be interesting to see if Norway has a market for Hermes, the Louis Vuitton store is according to www.dn.no (a big financial paper in Norway) not returning any profit yet. I think it has been in business for a year.

But I will definitively visit H when I go back to Oslo i January, planning on buying Un Jardin Apres La Mousson and a my first twilly

As far as if shopping H in Norway will be a good investment, everything in Norway is extremely expensive. To use a slight silly example, we were number 1 in the Big Mac Index this year :roflmfao: But the 25% VAT could be interesting if you can get the return.

Thanks for the update!!!!! It's great with another H shop in Scandinavia even if I also think that the prices will be pretty high (H is rather expensive also in Sweden and Denmark if compared to the rest of Europe)

IMO I think the stores will maybe return more as Oslo expands as a cruise harbor. However the domestic market, if it's of any size at all, will probably go down with the economic downturn.

IN denmakr with a similat VAT the return is 20% for H goods, I think oslo will be the same, and that's definetly not bad! This high rate of VAt should explain the high prices as a 20% off for tuourists is rather lucrative and shoppers do not have to travel far to get this rebate, Oslo is only a short and customless trip from places like Paris, Brussels and Berlin.

Again, a small update :smile1:

The store opened last week, you can see some pictures here:

Looks like they had good selections of bags, with a lovely SO Kelly in Etoupe, a Kelly and a 40 (?) cm Birkin. I wasn't sure what kind of inventory the store would have, so I'm pleasantly surprised that it included bags. Even though I'll probably only buy twillies and perfume :jammin:

At the opening they had some bags for display like a birkin in croc. However, they seem to have quite a nice selection of bags overall, there's still birkin on display (I think it was 30 togo or clemence) and several kellys in diff sizes, kelly SO, jypsiere, jige and several tempting garden parties. However, the prices are hideouscompared to the euro zone (which is so close). Even with a really strong euro the prices are 20% + higher than france. If the quoted price in the media for Birkin is accurate, the difference is even higher for birkins. Like my SA at FSH said when I mentioned I didn't want my bag to go through the mail; "everyone loves to go to paris non!?" and I think that's what I'll keep doing. lol

That being said, it's a great store and seems very well stocked.

Holy s***?!!! so buying something in Oslo won't be any cheaper than buying something in Paris where the selection is better anyways+ 25% import tax() ... I'm still happy about it though, now I can get my minor fixes (scarves, twillies) without leaving the country.

This was really surprising to me, there is no gucci, no prada, no lanvin, no Cartier, basically no luxury brand store except Louis Vuitton and now Hermès. You'd think at least one of the above would open before H got there no?

Tillykke :flowers:

I am surprised too that the other top brands have not got a foot in yet.
But Louis Vuitton is a bit like Starbucks lately aren't they.
It will be interesting to read your report on the inventory once your local Hermes store opens.

Is that you in your avatar?
How did you earn those wings? I hope you won't loose them when you have Hermes so near, it becomes sooo hard to be good!
