IMG_0337.webpHi I am new to Hermes scarves and have been looking for a neutral one. I’m not sure what kind of prints and color ways there have been in past seasons but I picked up Thalassa in the neutral color… wondering if I should wait for future seasons for other neutrals or is this a good neutral option? Also going back and forth between a double face silk 140, and cashmere 70/30 silk… as I have young children and don’t want to have to worry too much about the pilling and pulling… though there aren’t any current silk color ways that I’m fond of. Thank you in advance for your advice!

I also spotted this lovely 80cm cotton scarf called Bord à Bord on the European site. Designed by Elias Kafouros whose designs I really like.

For those that have H cotton scarves, do they crease terribly?

It’s beautiful!

I would also like to know what the experience with cotton scarves is. I was thinking about one to use when it is too hot for silk, to shield my neck and decolleté from the sun…

Hi and welcome here!

Congratulations on your first cashmere shawl! Most seasons there are some great neutral options, so I would just follow your heart. Thalassa is a classic design, and your neutral colorway is sure to be a classic too. But if you are unsure, of have doubts, you can always look online or in the boutique for other options or wait a bit for the new collections.

As for the debate giant silk vs cashmere 140, I have children and I love the cashmere. I find them relatively easy to upkeep and wash and keep stain free. I don’t own any giant silk but would suspect they are more prone to creasing, and slipping of when worn untied…. And can have pulling too.

Feel free to come back here to ask more questions or to model your beautiful shawl!

Thank you so much for the kind welcome and advice 😘 I was trying to look up some past season neutrals but didn’t come across any quite like Thalassa. The Thalassa neutral this season looks like it’s all beige and grey but it’s close up, it is actually very pastels.. I’m worried if I decide to not keep it .. I may regret it another one as “neutral” doesn’t come by 🫠

Moderators: Posting this in response to general questions about cotton scarves relating to this season's De Bord à Bord. I personally am delighted to see this option and am hoping to try both the white and the adorable yellow cw!

For those of you inquiring about cotton scarves, I do not have many but I do wear the ones I have as a fun warm weather option. I don't think they wrinkle particularly more than some 70s and in any case, they respond well to a quick steam/refold. I have a 70 Mini Bride de Gala with charm, a 100 cotton Les Bains and a recently acquired embroidered cotton 90-ish Thalassa, just worn (tied, sash, head scarf) for a beach vacation. It held up well over the ten tropical days...

I know the men's side regularly has cotton scarves and I believe we have a few scarfies (@bunnycat, @Snausages and @Redbirdhermes) who can speak to the format's pros and cons. I have not included here the Pareo-- also cotton but I believe there is a dedicated thread to that format.

i love the cashmere too!
its light yet keeps me warm

i’ve recently chanced upon videos where the 90cm silk scarves were knotted into capes and a hobo tote and that got me intrigued!

I recently got to see the Le Livre d'Esope in many colorways in Paris. so tempted to get one but i'm still wondering if it's a bit too busy and what color is the easiest to coordinate when my clothing has always been black and white only :D
The Thalassa is also very pretty!!! Eperon d'Or et Tenues de Jour is simple and easy to wear..
I am newbie so wondering when the next season scarves are coming out?
