Hi friends, so here we have Splash Park double face cw02 Marine/ Vert / Multicolore.

I tried it with a turquoise top and a black top. I was expecting to like the colourful side with the turquoise top but I really did not. The colours are muted and they did not pop against a colourful top, whereas I liked that face more against black. On the other hand, I was surprised by how nice the navy face looked against the turquoise top.

There is a lot of silver on the coloured side and the shades are not the vivid ones I’m used to choosing so I’m in two minds about it. However it’s a bit different than what I currently have in my collection. At the cost of the double faces, should I keep or return?

Well, I can see why this is giving you pause. You choices are usually high contrast or saturation, often with bright jewel elements, that really make you glow. This one is much more muted. That said, it’s beautiful!

I start that the marine side is fabulous on you! It looks like a finesse, and I’d be tempted to keep it for that alone. It’s a great choice on the top, but I think you’ll find this is pretty versatile - I expect it will go with almost anything; it’s basically a richly saturated neutral.

The reverse side is a little more tricky. Whereas the other versions of this design lean heavily on pastel palettes, this one is deep into the silver tones. Silver-pearl I’d say. Which is probably why I’m personally loving it, but it won’t do the heavy lifting for you. You have great contrast in your features, so soft contrast in a scarf needs to be paired with something with more impact. Coupled with the fact it’s very muted grey tones and low saturation, you need something to lift it. Maybe try it on a crisp white (not ivory)? It might work with a more saturated, brighter turquoise - I think you’re on to something with the colour, but the colour in this top is too soft. Pink would be a good choice too. The colours you prefer should all be complimentary - deep blues, navy, purple etc. and I suspect this would be fabulous on any deep berry tone: raspberry, blackberry, plum, cherry etc. Brighter tones should also work in a range of colours.

I don’t think the light is doing you any favours in these pics, as muted silver will really struggle in low light. I’d try it on a few other outfit options before deciding and lean into more saturated or brighter colours, if you can.

FWIW, it’s a standout for me for this DF design, but you have to love it at this price point. Hope this helps, and let us know what you decide!

Your reasonings and questions are completely sound. The question I have is this, "Will you reach for this scarf to wear because it fills a gap in your wardrobe, or will it be thought about but then passed over for another one?"

While it looks fine on you, the muted tones do give me pause also. Try on the white or pink cws to see how you feel even if you have a similar CSGM to the white. Don't force yourself towards a cw if it doesn't make you happy-happy.

I vote for return. The scarf is gorgeous IMO - and both sides of it, but the CW is too mature for you. You shine in bright and cheeful colorways.

Thank you so much for posting these photos of Splash Park DF. I prefer brighter colors, and the website photos gave me pause as most colorways seemed a bit duller in color than I prefer. Knowing how gray the "bright" side actually is just confirms that. It is truly a fun, fun design, and surely they should have used fun, fun colors. The marine side is very beautiful and fun. However, I just posted a marine/beige DF Clair de Lune over on the scarf of the day thread, and as far as I'm concerned, Hermes got the beige side right on that scarf. For me, this Splash Park is a miss.

I’m wondering if the heathering in the sweaters is too close to the muted tones in the scarf, and that’s why the black sweater seems to give off a brighter look. Maybe try it with a more solid or clear colored underpinning. (Sorry to be a bit obtuse, my color vocabulary is seriously lacking. I think maybe it has something to do with the ‘value’ of the color but dunno….)

ETA: @Lellabelle for the win (I’m glad that I’m not totally off base!)

I looked a bit more at your photos and I want to add that I do really like the marine side… and the design is so much fun… not helping much, I know 🫣

Thanks everyone for your thoughts on Splash Park. It’s actually helped bring clarity to what I like about it. It’s the marine side that I am really liking. It’s elegant but playful because of the design. Your’re all right, however, that the colourful side is too muted for me and the silver draws the grey from the perpetual London sky rather than make the other colours shine. I’ll try it with other tops, not least to help someone considering it but unless I fall in love with it a bit more, I may return it. I don’t have surplus funds for something I will pass over when choosing my daily scarf as @yuzulife very rightly suspects I’ll end up doing.

Edit: I don’t think I stressed enough how helpful you’ve been. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
