Hermes sold me a bag with a dent?

My fauve barenia had a small mark on the front when I received it from the store but I knew it was part of how that leather wears. Looking at your picture though, I can definitely see a dent on top of the marks and it seems like something was pressed into the bag or hit it causing this damage. Imo that is not ok for a new bag, and the marks on your bag are above and beyond minor scratches, which you might expect on a new bag with this type of leather.

Even allowing for the way Barenia wears, I would not expect to see it sold new in that condition.

Regardless of what it is, or from where you bought it, the bottom line is that if you buy something you deem to be defective, you should take it back. Why should this be different because it is Hermes.

I could not discern the 'dent', but the 'scratch' would bother me on something sold to me as new.
All the opinions on barenia wear and tear are vaild, nonetheless I don't see why it should not start off pristine and the marks that develop are your wear and tear.

I have some barenia pieces including large bags and I don't find it as easily marked as you might be given to believe.

Here's another angle of the pic so you can see the dent more clearly.
Instant reject! That never should have been offered for sale full price to the public. Would you accept obviously defective merchandise from any other seller? Personally, if I am paying 5 figures (or even 2) for an item, I want to do my own damage. At least I would have a story about how the war wounds were obtained. 🥴

It appears that you are looking for opinions that will agree with how you are
feeling about the "dent" & "scratch"
As the explanations go, this is the character of Barenia, like it or dislike it
Perhaps you might want to go back to the H store where you made the purchase
& have a conversation about your feelings about this dented area of your bag & explore
options that perhaps will be given to you.
Frankly, (not looking to discourage you but) I don't think you are going to be happy with this bag &
you should love, wear & enjoy the bag, JMO

Although it is something that can happen to barenia, it is not the character of barenia per se.
More problematic would be proving that this has not happened to the bag whilst it has been in your possession.

Only you can decide what is right for you. I would return it, but then again, I would not buy that type of leather because it is going to be covered in fingernail scratches in no time. Call it patina, but that would not work for me. YMMV. Anywhere but Hermes, you could negotiate for a discount for them selling you a “distressed” bag. 😜

Just bought this Barenia Faubourg Kelly from the store and when I got home I realized there is a big dent on the bottom. I also noticed other light superficial scratches on the bag too. Seems like maybe the bag was already used by another customer and then returned? The small scratches don't bother me but the dent on the bottom is quite big and obvious.

Should I take it back to Hermes? If I take this back to Hermes, what will they do? Send it to the spa or do I need to wait for a new bag? Thanks in advance
If you just got this, I would go back ASAP and discuss with your SA. You and only you can be satisfied with your purchase.

I would return this to the store..Scratches I could deal with but this bag has clearly been 'dinged' on the base and damaged.
As @WhiteBus stated in above post I fear it may be difficult for you to prove you did not damage the bag after purchase.
Its unfortunate that you did not notice the damage whilst at the boutique.
Good luck and let us know what happens.
