Hey Dylan. To be honest, sometimes neutrals are harder to get than seasonal colours. And pre-spend for some neutrals are higher too . I highly suspect that your SA already has something in-coming for you, which led her to suggesting neutral as a broad theme.

And remember, if your wife really doesn’t like the colour that’s offered, don’t feel obligated to say yes. Hermes is a house of colours and there will be something for your wife. And @periogirl28 is absolutely right. The bag chooses you. There have been instances when I never thought I’d want a QB in a certain colour but when I set up my eyes on it, its wow!! So keep your mind open and good luck!! Share with us when you pick up the offer!!
Hello. I do agree things may change when I get to view the bag in-person hence I am looking forward to it while keeping my fingers crossed. No rush though as I prefer to take this journey at my own pace but surely there's some excitement.

Dylan.

I am sorry to hear that you are not given a favorable response to your choice colour combinations. Take heart, perhaps she does not want to over promise and perhaps she would like to exceed your expectations eventually?

I got the classic neutral I wanted for fiest Qb but I did list a few colours that I wanted. I also spoke about the Qb on our first meeting. I bought stuff across several categories and would like to add that I was waiting for a long time on certain items which I have paid a deposit for but which I have not received. I also did not ask for a non Qb bag or asked but did not get one from her. Perhaps she was making up for all these and got me the very popular combination that was among my requests for Qb.

Of course when i had given her the wishlist for qb she said that the few combis were hard to get and she will just put in the system and let her manager decide but I guess she was just managing my expectations.

I hope you will get the dream bag you want.
Hello. I appreciate that you shared your experience and it is good to learn from other shoppers. I am sure every boutique has a never ending list of requests from clients and this makes it very challenging for both the SA and shopper alike.

I am just hoping the the crash on resale prices of luxury watches also have an effect on bags in some extent.

This could deter the resellers to really think about making the prespend to get a qb which the profits may be lower than the losses from selling the prespend.

With resellers gone, i believe real bag enthusiasts can get the bag they really want for themselves.

Don’t think there’s quite a parallel but I may be totally wrong.

Last year, the demand for luxury watches soared coz there was newfound wealth amongst crypto and stock investors, esp amongst men. With the recent crypto meltdown and geopolitical tensions, the secondary mkt for luxury watches basically went kaboomz.

Hermes is a different story where this slow dance routine has been in existence for some time. BCK (direct) from stores is something that even money cannot buy (unless of course you plonk in the equivalent of like a HDB flat in SG). So the story of prespend, chachacha, prespend, chachacha is likely to stay whether you like it or not. Resellers form a portion of Hermes’ clienteles, together with ardent fans and newbies. Only BCK can fetch profits (and maybe ML) but everything else, you’ll basically sell at a loss eg I’ve seen FJ going at half price. I don’t really think that there’s too many of the crypto sorts in the H game. But again, this is my own assessment. I may be totally 100% wrong.

Agree. The Hermes in store and aftermarket world is a way different ball game.

Just my suggestion that you might like to look at social media and resellers’ IG to get an idea of what colours are in season. It really could be that your SA do not see your desired colour come in and offering you the best available alternative for you. You may choose to wait it out but wait time is indefinite.

Yeah I personally don’t think the watch and bag market goes the same way too.

Some of the prices of popular watches went up by 3-4x the retail prices , now they’ve dropped significantly but still > or close to double the retail price . For Hermes handbags , only v few things like mini Kelly , mini pochette , very rare B/K bags like the picnic designs are significantly higher than the retail .

Secondly , the way watches are sold in the grey market is different fm the way bags are sold in the second hand market.

Many ppl sell their watches to the grey market dealers and get back instant cash VS bags that are usually consignment based .

The watch prices are mainly decided by grey dealers . Many of the dealers have bought over many watches over the past year and are probably panicking now + trying to clear watch stock quickly to minimise losses hence the drastic drop in prices .

Whereas for bags , it’s consignment based - not much risks taken by the second hand shops hence the prices remain stable .
