Thanks! They were $5250. Supposedly my SA gave me the 2024 price, but I feel like it was higher than what he quoted me last year when I placed the order. Yes there is a mark up for the SO shoes.
My “regular” alligator SO was quoted at $4800 last week and I am pretty sure there is a hefty hima mark up. I think you got a good deal!

I think the Himalaya oasis SO

were at least 5500 euros last year in Europe, the normal alligator Oasis SO were definitely 3500, so $5250 in the U.S. should be correct.

I received the oasis ombré lizard SO, and even if I paid a 20 percent deposit in last year’s price (2800 euros), they made me pay the difference to the new price (3100). Is that normal?

I thought if you paid a deposit you would lock in the price of when you ordered?

Thanks

Hermes prices never lock in for anything. I believe even if you prepaid in full, they would make you pay the difference in the price increase at pick up. (Heck, we've even seen clerical errors where the store has "forced" a client to return to the store and pay the mistake difference, in both cases where the mistake was only a few dollars and another where it was over a thousand.)

Thank you, I am very surprised that would be allowed in Europe and that people wouldn’t say anything 😅

I know they ask people to go back in the U.S. to pay the difference when there are mistakes, but I believe people go on goodwill so the SA will not get fired or pay out of pocket, because a contract is formed when you paid and they handled you the merchandise, so the store should take responsibility for its mistake, absent fraud or theft. Of course if the price was much lower than one would think reasonable, the store could pursue a civil claim (as paying 10 dollars for a 1000 necklace) and might win in small claims.

In Mexico, Cartier lost the claim against this individual that bought two diamond earrings for close to nothing:
