Hello. I normally don’t venture into H ready to wear but I saw a beach coverup online that I fell in love with. However it looks HUGE! I’m only 5’0 tall and think it may overwhelm me. I tried the H poncho on once and it practically swept the floor. Does H ready to wear generally lean towards taller people?

Hi all, I’m in a dilemma at the moment. My local boutique in Australia doesn’t have this prefall 19 cardigan coat I really want to get. I’m going back to Malaysia and turns out they have them. But I’m going to Paris end Nov, does anyone know if there’s a chance that my cardigan coat from prefall 19 will still be available then? I assume stock levels in Paris will be much better but not sure if the cardigan coat will still be there.. will prefall collection stay till end nov? Or will it be mostly SS20?

If your heart is set on this cardigan coat, I would get it where you can find it.
There is no guarantee that you will be able to find your size or the color you want in Paris & brings me to the
thought, he who hesitates may be disappointed.

@periogirl28 styled her Mythiques Phoenix beach cover-up really well on her petite frame here. :)

And yes, in general H RTW are made for taller folks.

Thank you for pointing out that H usually tailors for taller folks, @Meta .
My SA always tries to convince me of the opposite and obviously everything looks great on me, no matter how large and wide. I adore many of the RTW pieces but none of what I have tried had the right fit, neither shorts, trousers, skirts, coats or jackets. I am especially struggling with the cuts on my shoulders and waist. I would love to indulge since many things seem very wearable and the fabrics used are simply gorgeous but I am not willing to spend thousands on something that doesn’t fit my frame properly. I am probably spoiled by Chanel and the in-house seamstress (my H doesn’t offer any alterations, not sure this is the same for all boutiques) but I don’t like oversized clothing on me and just feel I can’t warm up to H RTW.

Is there any particular line of RTW that I should look into, any recommendations from the tiny ladies here? Been following this thread for a long time and feel sizing can be a bit all over the place?

Fit is really important at whatever price point one is looking at.
Hermes RTW for me has been a hit or miss. When it works nothing can really match H, IMO
The leathers are sumptuous, the cashmere & silks are quite divine & the quality speaks for itself.

Have you looked at Dior, Valentino, The Row or Bruno Cucinelli?
Even though the collections do vary, there are usually some interesting & well done pieces.
If you are used to wearing Chanel primarily, why not perhaps look for older pieces that you might have missed?

Thanks for chiming in! I’m covered and don’t want to force it, if H just isn’t made for my frame than I am fine with it (I do own Dior, Valentino, Dolce and others which obviously have a different silhouette). I‘ve just been to another RTW event and I especially love H‘s leather pieces but could get none of the new pieces to work with my size. Hence, I was wondering if I shall look into something particular that may usually have a slimmer cut such as silk or leather dresses, tunics or the like. Simply haven’t had any luck with the categories I tried so far over the past years.

I’m small too and love the swimsuits, to the point where I plan to get my third one the next time I’m at the store. Other than that though, I agree, most of the H RTW is cut too large/styled too loose fit to match my preferred bodycon type normal aesthetic. I plan to try the bolduc tee next time too but don’t have high hopes.

yes, H RTW definitely more towards tall ladies. I am only 5'3 (5'5" on good days )that is why for me I only been getting Twillaine tops, tunics, cardigans, and equatrian jackets/fleeces... tops mainly.
there are few pieces of dresses I love but I just can't pull it off:sad:

Swimsuits - noted! Thank you. Will try to find some next time I am at the store just to see how the fit is on me. And aesthetics are one thing - I don't mind a loose fit as long as the clothes are not just obviously too big. I work long hours and could never do tight clothes all day, so prefer something easy, wearable and comfortable - which is why H would be perfect. Timeless basics with excellent quality. But not only are many designs quite loose, the trousers are simply too large and slip down, sleeves are many inches too long and would be complicated to alter for my private seamstress. I've had high hopes for the lovely leather dresses seen on the run way but my store didn't order any as they are not popular with the local clientele. Maybe I should try FSH next time I am there and consult one of the RTW SAs/experts. Not giving up yet!

I hear ya. I’ve tried the beautiful cardigans since they are somewhat adjustable with a belt etc but the sleeves basically cover my entire hand and the long cardis hang way too low. I’ve never even considered pants because I know better lol. Good luck on your hunt. The clothes really are amazing quality. (Oh I forgot, there was a white crop blazer last season that fit me perfectly, because it was supposed to be crop and mini on normal folks, and I almost bought it but since it was white, I couldn’t justify it with two young kids right now.)
