Dont think the twillanes can be altered and they are huge even if in small sizes. I debated whether to throw mine in the wash and shrink it. I have the chaine dAncre pullover sweater (it also comes in a cardigan) and I love it. The Bdg pullover and cap sleeved pull over, and the matching skirt are also nice and are more fitted.
Do you have a pic of that sweater by any chance? I hope it’s available if go next week. I love the twillaines and yes I was drowning in it the shoulders were off, don’t think it’ll work for me.

Which is Bdg? Got it nvm my brain is slow haha

PS- let me know if you do attempt to shrink it and how that goes!

Thank you all for your feedback! I do appreciate it all! I suppose it’s personal too if one prefers casual dresses or sweatshirts, as I can see. I agree I need to take in the dress or exchange for sweatshirt or something else altogether. I love this design a lot (got 3 scarves!) and I suppose I can let it go if it doesn’t work.

The dress material is thicker/stiffer not very see through. The T-shirt dress is a thinner fabric, as a reference. But I think because of that more form fitting/less boxy on me. I do like the idea of casual summer on the go dresses, but if it doesn’t fit me well it’s not going to be worth it in the end. Maybe I’ll switch for a chaine d’Andre sweater they also look nice and didn’t try. The twillaines I think are too large on me and don’t look like they can be altered much :/
I don’t think the dress looks bad on you. I think styled with a denim jacket, a basket bag and some day sneakers would be cute casual look. If you love it I think you should still get it. I think t shirt dresses are just harder for me personally to style. But that’s a me thing. I think the fit of the dress is fine on you

Hi! You know that I love both pieces. I agree that the dress is boxy, but that is the fit. I have the same issue with it looking a bit oversized, but I wear these dresses layered with some version of a cardigan over it, so you don’t really see that the fit is big. The only time I wouldn't wear it layered is if it’s really hot out.

With that said, and having just taken a look at one of my Hermès t-shirt dresses, there is a seam on either side, so I don’t imagine that there would be any issue for the dress to be taken in, and you can have it shortened. I am planning to visit Madison next week and I may bring one with me to see what they say when I request to have it taken in.
Yes I know :) I am leaning towards letting go of the dress I think it’s too much fabric on me and sits a little stiff, if that makes sense. I love how the pocket t-shirt dress material sits on me more. But I am hoping to also make it into the store this coming week and try to sort this out

Sorry I’m reading all of these messages out of order!

I’m definitely curious about the Chain D’Ancre to compare

I also have a Chaine d’Ancre sweater and I love it. It’s a slimmer fit. The length is perfect on me (I’m 5’4”). If you like the twillaine look, they make a short-sleeve twillaine sweaters, too. Let us know what you decide to do!
Did you go for cardigan style or long sleeve. I’m 5’1.5” on a good day! I didn’t try any short sleeve sweaters I will see if I can next week :)

Thanks so much! I tried it on with a leather jacket and there was too much fabric not laying right on the back side… I am wondering if it is worth the effort of tailoring as I have other casual dresses that can fit this purpose. I just loved the design but I can let it go!

Bride de gala sweater (comes in different colors)

first pic is my favorite oversized shirt (metal ring detail on pocket and sleeves
that I wear as a jacket over the chaine d’ancre sweater and Hermes pants

second and third is BdG sweater with chanel pants and dior jacket
fourth pic is cap sleeved BdG with dior gaucho pants
i think the fifth pic is with the BdG skirt
chaine d’ancre sweater (also comes in different colors) with courreges painter pants
twillane with dior under the sea dress (I folded some of the panels under the sash to make it smaller)

there was also a cute short sleeved cotton sweater with chaine detail on the neck. But I’m pretty sure its sold out.
These were last season i think and went quickly

no idea why pic size is so messed up

I have a long sleeved twillaine cardigan from 2016 or so. I really dont wear it, but I love the design.

Don’t keep it if it’s not working for you. There’s a fine line between “oversized“ and “too darn big”!

Thanks! Would you feel differently if I ask then to tailor it to fit better!? I want to make the dress work if I can but if not then yes maybe switch to sweatshirt (if they have it… I had tried it on 2 months ago, sigh!)
My personal preference would still be the sweatshirt, I feel the print is proportional there vs the dress.
Honestly though I feel like you’re leaning towards the dress and might get more use out of it. I say go for it

both have a young cute sleep wear vibe. Honestly, I prefer dior t shirts (linen and cotton blend) to Hermes but it’s a different aesthetic. But, I still kind of think of a twillane as a bathrobe (My mom and I joke about wearing our bathrobes out to dinner)
lol bathrobe, that is my unpopular opinion and always kept quiet whenever I saw pics posted. I even tried one on and couldn't get past that vibe.

Thanks for sharing all of these you look great in all of them!!! Very inspirational :) the twillaine I think also looks great here. That sweater I actually think I just saw online yesterday with the chain detail it is short sleeve coincidentally unless it’s a similar one.

Thanks. If you see it, I recommend. It’s TTS, and fits like a t shirt (It’s short sleeved and under the black and white H jacket, chanel jeans. There is also a white mesh backed vest top (with dior shorts) in spring 2023 that could be cute on you. also in black. Briefly in toile with swift trim, but I was too late to pick it up (matching the H toile jacket in fourth pic). The third shirt was from sept 2022, and it’s deliberately oversized. I played with maxing out the volume with a non H skirt (SONG, Vienna), third pic, but it also compresses easily into an h leather mini skirt (fourth pic). You can certainly play with volume and make it work.

BTW, you clearly like the t shirt, so no matter what anyone says, just wear it. I would hem it and trim the sides, but that’s easy. But you could also simply belt or sash it with a CDC belt or even a favorite scarf. The sweatshirt is cute and fun if you wear that kind of thing regularly. I wouldn’t pair it with jeans but a cute skirt or shorts. @LKNN bought the white shorts current season, and there is a Jean jacket to match that might also be your style. White, colorful, playful. I went on Hermes.com, and the site even shows your sweatshirt with the shorts, here : https://www.hermes.com/us/en/product/chevaloscope-embroidered-sweatshirt-H3E4626DA9034/ The look is deliberately pastel and matchy cute. If I were to wear pastel (not my style as you can see) I would personally choose the shorts over either the t shirt or sweatshirt. For the money, longer lasting, more solid construction. But, I’m 55 years old, and i don’t really buy cute/pretty athleisure. For less expensive basics with some figure flattering styling, I like courreges. https://www.courreges.com/us. I mention it bc it mixes nicely with hermes RTW, and I bought six pieces: two jackets; three pairs of pants; and, a sweater top for the price of the Hermes white pinafore dress in Paris a few weeks ago. Courreges is more expensive in the US, but still much cheaper than H.

FWIW, if you decide to buy dior t shirts, they also need hemming and trimming on the sides. My favorite j’adior (I have a backup ones too) is my airplane outfit with Turnbull cashmere hoodie and athleta cargo sweatpants.
