I am seriously considering this same jacket! I'm torn as I love many parts of the fit, but not sure if it's tight across my shoulder blades or if it's meant to be like that. Also the ribbing in the inner elbow felt bunchy to me. But I feel like it looks so good! This would be my first luxury rtw piece ever so the price tag is scary but it's so my style.
I think you look lovely, and the fit is supposed to be snug (not sure if tight across the shoulders translates that way though). A luxury piece has to look and feel good, so it’s a judgment call. It shouldn’t be tight or uncomfortably bunchy bc then you might not wear it as much as you should to get value back via cost per wear. I do have a feeling that bc of the material, this might relax a bit, but thats a gamble ive decided to take based solely on my own experience. (I am not slim all over as you are, so perhaps I stretch things out lol). Having said all that, it’s a slim black cardigan zip jacket which is made in different iterations every year by almost every designer. So if you decide this is not the perfect one, there will be others. Fingers crossed for your best decision!

@LKNN, I love those skirts! hope to see action shots with them soon! Congrats!

ETA: the elbow Moto detail is mainly below the bend of my arm so doesn’t really bunch up (I wear a sleeveless top underneath to keep the moto sleeve smoothed out )

Thank you, that's so kind! And thanks for your reply about how it feels for you. That's a fair assessment re: a black cardigan zip jacket being a common item. Being I'm 4'11", sometimes finding these staple pieces in just the right fit is tough! Though hoodies and unstructured cardigans are much easier especially in fast fashion (Hello H&M and Forever 21 <_< ). It's a big part of why I'm torn! Also I have only been shopping with Hermes about a year and a half, but it seems like most of their clothing is cut very straight-up-and-down/boxy which doesn't flatter me well, but this piece seems unusually tailored at the waist so I love it! I go back soon to decide.

Attaching a pic of the elbow joint/ribbing in case anyone else is interested in this jacket.

Four extra oxymore St. Louis whisky glasses (they’re large enough to use for water too)
12 of the red wine glasses (IMO the white wine glasses are too small, and SA and DH agree)

I tried on some RTW and purchased the zip jacket, size 38, 3850 USD, in the first pic.

I forgot to take a pic of the tag, and it hasn’t been delivered yet, but here is the info from H.com
Zipped jacket in "3D" technical knit and polyamide knit finishings (100% polyamide)
- Bomber collar
- Collar and cuffs with "H Rond" motifs
- Middle front fastening with matte zip

I decided against the second jacket. But it’s lightweight and comfortable. runs large, size 36. the suede skirt is soft and easy, but I prefer more structure from the waist to the hip. I included the reference numbers below in case anyone needs them
also I tried on a pebbled leather wrap mini skirt, eyelet closure (I love this detail and have the wool vest/tunic dress, but the size 36 was too small and there was no 38

If the summer months are cool, by the water, or in the evening, it’s doable for summer. Not quite warm enough, by itself, for shoulder season in NYC (now) IMO. But, I’m always too hot or too cold, and not rezlly all that practical about my purchases (so long as I love the way something looks and know I will wear it, practical considerations become somewhat moot lol

long ago, Anne Fontaine used to do these full length zip tops that were not quite shirts, not quite jackets, in synthetic material. this might occupy the same space and function in a wardrobe. Basically if something is neutral in color, stretchy and thicker (to disguise lumpiness) and can be worn with gray pants, jeans, skirts, and a moto jacket, I buy it.

it’s perhaps most similar in weight to a denim jacket or hoodie zip sweat shirt (think american giant classic original cotton, last pic) if that helps. Just delivered to me this am, so here are the tags

@880 & @EdgyBagsPlz : I'm looking for more feedback on this jacket from you both if you are so inclined to share. This has been in and out of my cart since I first saw @880's post above. It's 100% up my alley...edgy, black, fitted. Seems like a great alternative to/blend of a sports zip jacket and leather jacket, still appropriate for office or casual. Most things that are cut straight up and down don't suit me as I'm thin but busty, so the dreaded gap or bunchiness or even straining are things I'm afraid of, but as @EdgyBagsPlz alluded this looks to be different/fitted. In most H RTW I'm a 36 (prior jacket, sweater, etc) but 2 other items I got a 38 (which are ok without being baggy). Does this in your opinion run large?

Seeeeriously on the verge of pulling the trigger on this, then trying to decide if I should call the store and have it shipped vs. ordering online (nearest H is 6 hours drive away).

IMO, I think it runs true to size or slightly small ( BUT i have a large waist relative to my height, so i have to fit to that). I think I took a 38, and I am a 40 chanel jacket, 36-42 Dior (38-40 in 30 Montaigne but a 42 in some bar jackets); 38 brunello if that helps. I have an H cardigan in size 38 which is looser on me than this. In the medor cashmere H jacket, a 38 runs large on me). My recent H dresses range from 38-40, but in the thick synthetic stretchy short sleeved knit H dress with silver dangly bits and H chain d’ancre half zip polo dress, I took a 40.

I might have reluctantly passed on this jacket if the sleeve was as bunchy on me as on @EdgyBagsPlz; and the sleeves are a bit long and have decorative edges which may hinder a smooth hem. (I have very little faith in H tailoring as opposed to chanel tailoring, but others have had good luck).

However I will note that at a recent bottega veneta RTW event, I noticed tops made of similar material that appeared both stiff and yielding on the hanger (see below pic of the green top at BV). (The idea being that your body will kind of mold the garment once on). of course the green top is purposefully highly textured, whereas the H zip jacket is only textured at the moto detail). So, I think it depends on individual fit and tolerance and where on your arm the moto detail hits (on me the moto detail does not interfere with the bend of my arm) . (I’m sorry that doesn’t help much).

Second pic, from left to right: size 38, size 40, size 40 (in case you hAve any of these

Thank you for this. I have long arms so long sleeves would be good in this case. I'm also tall (5'9") so my other concern is where the waist seam hits, but I'm short-waisted so hopefully that won't be an issue.

I know if I order online the process for return/exchange is easy, but how does it work if I order it through an SA and I end up having to return due to fit? Haven't been to my closest store in years, have no change to try it on for at least the next month.

I tried this jacket in 36, I am usually between 36 and 38 in Hermes, I thought the jacket ran slightly small also. It's made of a very strong, kind of sporty knit material, so maybe over time it could stretch. I had a hard time zipping it over the bust, and I am not sure how tall you are but I am over 5'9 and it looked slightly short on my body frame (kind of an awkward length - not short enough to be cropped style).

Sorry - just saw your reply! Sorry I don't have any pictures of where it hit me, but I don't have a long waist if that helps.

I think buying through an SA results in store credit, whereas buying on line is refund to cc. (I only buy RTW once I have tried it on in person, so don’t have much experience with return. Perhaps someone else can chime in. ..

since you are slim through the waist; have long arms; and, are tall (I envy you  perhaps a 38 (in order to allow for room at the bust as per @caffelatte ?

Yes, I've ordered a few RTW items through my SA without being able to try on before and unfortunately I got store credit only, not a full refund since they were sent to me from another boutique (charge send). I think if you had an SA who could transfer it into the store, you could go in and try it on before buying it, but I don't think there's a way around that if you can't make it into the store. If you do decide to buy, 38 is probably a "safer" choice!

Thank you, this is super helpful. It would have to be online only then. And, as luck would have it, since the 36 has been sitting in my cart for a week, the 38 is sold out. SOoooooo, it looks like fate intervened and decided this might not be right for me. I couldn't find my tape measure and actually stood in front of the mirror measuring out 20.5" length with a ruler. Bottom of jacket would hit pretty high, and might look too cropped to be the right length, but not cropped enough to be cropped. Bugger.

Thank you for all your help! :flowers:

Thank you @JadeFor3st , @nymeria, and @Mrs.Hermess for your kind words
@nymeria , I would have thought the first jacket would be exactly your moto chic style
@JadeFor3st , I agree with @bagsofguiltypleasure that the dress length is perfect on you , with or without the twillane! The second jacket feels a bit swing like. Both DH and SA thought it made me look shorter lol. If they say no in unison, I usually take it off

@Chrismin, my SA said 13.5USD for the swing jacket/poncho (at that eye popping price point, even for leather, cashmere, and studs, I would have balked. (It did not have the fabulous back detailing of the longer one belonging to @DoggieBags). If I were to spend that much (I only have one RTW piece in a 5 digit range) I personally prefer the more structured, flamboyant style of chanel RTW). My SAs also know that I am happiest with RTW in a 4 digit not 5 digit budget that can go with my lifestyle of jeans and birkenstock slip on sneakers.

Stylewise, I do think for someone who is minimal and elegant; who wants pieces that can easily transition from a high powered office job (assuming one can wear premier RTW) to dressier lunches or dinners, the poncho and the pleated leather skirt could be the perfect forever pieces. They are gorgeous, versatile, classic, with a very luxurious twist, and I would be thrilled to drool over and celebrate anyone who ends up with them

ETA: one gripe I have is, unlike chanel, dior, or brunello, that the prices are not on the tags. I’d like to be able to figure out my cost per wear and budget privately in the dressing room. Also, bc of the leather detailing, i don’t think the poncho sleeves can be shortened
I do the same.. checking out the price privately in the dressing room.. gasp.. then decide if I want to burn my pocket or return it to its hanger..
