I don't care much about hardware color, so thought I would be ok with a strap with a different color hardware than the bag. I was wrong. I found a strap I loved with shw and tried it with a black kelly with ghw and I did not like it at all. It did bother me.

It surprised me because I mix jewelry metals all the time and don't think a thing about it!

You are right. It is not the same as mixing jewellery metals. The strap becomes part of the bag, so if the hardware is not the same the mismatch is very apparent.

I’m strap twins with sbelle! I haven’t been keeping up with the latest and greatest in fashion and was pretty clueless about the whole Fendi bag strap explosion until I read about it on the forum this week. When I went to pick up my Hermesmatic scarves, one of the SAs brought out the bag straps for “fun”. I didn’t think I would be interested because I’m pretty conservative and like my straps to match my bags. Some of the patterns in leather were a bit too funky for me, but I ended up selecting the gold leather strap with a black and white pattern and gold hardware to use with my workhorse Kelly. I actually prefer the strap with the design facing down so that the plain gold leather is what you see :). It’s very comfortable for crossbody wear, but not an essential accessory IMHO bc I am able to wear the strap that came with my Kelly originally crossbody.

I like the idea of using the pattern side down a lot! More subtle with a nice flash of detail :)

Love, love love this strap. Is the length of the strap good for you? Yesterday I bought the gold and white one, took it home to put on my evelyn and it was much too long. I was so disappointed so I am wondering if maybe they come in different lengths?
