Hi Girls...has anyone ever heard of a Birkin losing one or more of its feet?? Another naive question...why do some Birkins have Hermes-Paris engraved on the hardware with the icon for Registered Trademark and some do not? Any help greatly appreciated. jrt

i have been told that the registered trademark on the strap hardware is the required mark to show that the item is gold plated, not solid gold. that is why it appears on the gold hardware and not the palladium hardware. a little misleading when sellers say 24kt gold hardware. it's really plated.

jrt, perhaps you are referring to the little square on the gold metal of the strap closure? It just means the hardware is gold (as opposed to palladium or other metals that do not have this mark).

Oops, just saw that this was already answered (I missed that there was a page 2)
