Chill, the DFS stores (i.e. Scotts, T2 and T3) are under a different management from the downtown stores (Liat and Taka). Inventory is NON-transferrable. And so even between the downtown stores (Liat and Taka), bags are also NOT transferrable. Even if you know the SA well. Seriously.

Yup, non-transferrable inventory. The most that Liat and Taka will do is call the DFS stores to enquire about their inventory and (maybe) put it on hold for you, but you need to make a personal trip to the DFS store to pick it up yourself. Which is a big jump from previously, when they didn't even do that

Mrssparkles, impressed with your knowledge. Ones always learn something new everyday, i truly don't have issue where they transfer these bags, as long as there is only ONE hermes on this planet.
xalohalovex, you don't get full 7% GST refund as the refund depends on value of your purchase, for value of a birkin, probably u get close to 6%.

You're probably right. I will check with my SA and post back here again. I need to ask her anyway, if the H stores do the tax refund for the customer at the store, or the customer has to go to the airport tax refund counter.

I would say your best bet of finding a birkin would be in Tokyo if you do by chance get there. I saw one on the shelf at the H store in Tokyo October last year. The city also has independent shop (non H shop) that sells genuine birkins at a premium. You get your pick of leather, colour and size. I stopped by 4 shops to have a look!

^^ Yes, Tokyo = Birkins galore! One of the SA went to Tokyo on vacation last week, and saw Birkins on the shelf. Snapped up very quickly. One never ever sees a Birkin on the shelf in Singapore. I have only seen it once. A 50cm travel birkin.

Wow... there's a cap on GST refund? Never knew that; always thought it was the full 7% no matter what. But then again, why do I care? I'll never be eligible for it anyway! :roflmfao::laugh:

To the OP - Hong Kong also has plenty of reseller shops that have an abundance of Birkins and Kellys. If you can spare a weekend trip to HK, it will be worth it

Chill, thanks.

That's the point. The management does not wish to upset customers patronising various H stores in SG that they do not allow transfers of *bags*.

MrsS, to my knowledge it's only small leather accessories that they transfer right? How about scarves, jewelry (enamel bracelets etc) or RTW - do they allow transfers of those too?

BTW - I got your PM, but am having trouble replying. Don't know why I keep getting error messages when I try to hit the reply button :cursing: Will try again in the morning :smile1:

LOL! I never knew that either.

Here's the link to the GST refund for tourist, if anyone else is interested.

http://www.customs.gov.sg/leftNav/trav/Tourist+Refund+Scheme.htm

There is a hotline number there. Think I will pick up the phone and dial it. And also check with my SA about H GST refund procedure.

Yeah I was debating over a 32 Choc box Kelly in DFS during my holiday in Singapore this time last year. It was not on hold and just on the shelf. So they do have them occasionally. Have also been offered Kellys in Liat but always from the back.
