my pleasure . the thing i found out long time ago the very personal (still useful)gifts are the best as when the receipent gets older most likely he has everything (regarding household etc) or could buy al the"neccessary things" himself so "unusual" gift with thoughts put in are most of the time better then an expensive kitchen machine vase etc

I agree. I also prefer personal gifts because that shows the person has put in the thought and time into getting the gift together. I'm of the belief that it's the thought that counts:yes:

List them list them!! I'm sure i'm not the only person who is too timid to ask my SAs about prices:laugh:

piccolo - small pen case - in leather about $400 something
an over the shoulder pouch/messanger thingie $450 in leather no Hermes hardware on it in glove leather
both seen at my local boutique recently

I was just on hermes.com and there are a couple of new items listed tonight. There is a "lucky-4 key ring" with a cute little green/brown goatskin four-leaf clover on a chain for $120...

Also, not new to the site but still well below $500, the Carmen key ring in pink or blue is $180...

Both items are listed under "surprises"...

By the way, what is the purpose of a "taillevent notation"? It has something to do with red wine? It's $520, so technically outside the parameters of our list here :s ... any ideas?

It's to keep track of how good a particular vintage was.

Cute, but of limited use, since from the pic, the French (and also Hermes) chauvinistically appear to consider the only two red wines worth drinking to be from Bordeaux and Burgundy, so no info on other red wine regions.
