Hermes in Amsterdam

Just wanted to share my experience in Amsterdam! Went to the store on PC Hooftstraat today and it was closed for the new year. Went to Bijenkorf and the store was packed! Hermes surprisingly had no line so I asked an older woman if they had the Evelyne tpm. She said they had no bags. My mother went maybe 15 minutes after me and got a much younger associate who said they had one left! So I was able to get my bag in a color great for winter! I wasn’t impressed by any of the sales associates, especially the one who lied haha, but I got my bag! Also I cannot recommend the Waldorf Astoria enough for hotel accommodations. It is superb service and a beautiful hotel!

Hello!

I’m going to be in Amsterdam 24th - 26th February! It’s my first time visiting Amsterdam and the hotel I’m staying at is the next street to H Hooftstraat. Would anyone be open to sharing their SA info? I’m particularly interested in another Herbag 31 and more shoes. Due to how short my trip is, if I could make contact with a good SA perhaps I can schedule an appointment beforehand.

Many thanks in advance!

Last time I checked earlier this year my local SA told me that they continue to not take individual appointments and it is “first come, first served”. This has been the case since last summer. Perhaps there are exceptions for VIP clientele but I wasn’t able to confirm this theory. Curious if others have different experience though.

Hi!

Thank you for the information - that makes a lot of sense! Hopefully I can pick a good time to go where it is less busy :)

I will be going to Amsterdam soon, do they offer quota bags to tourists?
I just came back from there last weekend. I went into H on Saturday and was told they did not have any bags (I asked about Herbag in Chai too, so not just quota bags). The SA was nice but said they do not receive stock on the weekend.

I saw someone in the leather area collecting a B so I assumed it was a local client. Saw another probably local client leaving with something leather related (she was carrying a beautiful B in gold) - looked to have a good relationship with many of the SAs hence why I assumed local client.

I was told by someone else that if you are a regular enough tourist (as in visit often and have a relationship with them) you may get offered bags but it’s the same way you would have a relationship with your home store I guess.

Hi all, question for those who’ve flown out of Schipol. Customs there opens after my departure time so is there another area I can get my VAT return there? Thanks! (Please move if this isn’t the right thread…)

What store has a better selection of scarves? I want to buy a pink or orange costume du fete or something else with bright colors or something modern but I’ve never been to any of the stores in Amsterdam

PC Hooftstraat is the (significantly) bigger of the two. It used to be that they both had pretty good stock, with the Sales Managers buying slightly different stock, catering to a different audience. Nowadays, it may be PC. I've not been there for a while as the Bijenkorf store has been my go to in the last years but I've noticed they've been kind of lacking in the last year or so. If you are here long enough to try both, great. And each store can see the stock at the other. Maybe try PC first (but beware they have longer lines than the other boutique).

Hi Tracy,

Did you have any luck this year? I just received an email that I won’t be able to make a wishlist this year…. Its the start of April, so I guess I have to try my luck next year in January
I’m not Tracy but as a local I tried to put a wish in De Bijenkorf last month, after spending with that store since the summer. The situation was pretty odd: I was served by trainee who told me that the wishlist is now open and I can put my wish. As she struggled with her phone, she went to the back of the store only to come back and say that I will hear from them if “the planner” decides I’m eligible. Needless to say, I’ve never heard back.
