Thanks, na294! I am hoping for a Constance (who isn't??) but also looking for other items further down on the wish list (Lindty, garden party, dogon) so thinking this might be a good opportunity to have DH try for those items. It is VERY tempting to take him up on the offer to make a side trip to Paris, but that delays his return home by a whole day (we have 3 little ones) so trying to resist the temptation:)

If its only a day I would have him go to Paris.

If you are willing to get something further down the list (Lindy, Garden Party, Dogon) then you are going to get one for sure in Paris. There is also lots of stock on the French hermes.com of the Dogon for example.

Since those item aren't as high in demand as a B/K/C maybe you can call the store and ask if they have any of them in stock. They all speak english.

I would also suggest to let him go to Paris. Chances on everything are so much better in Paris. The Lindy the B/K/C the wallets, everything is more available in Paris. I also agree that the staff at the department store are WAAAY more friendly than the stand alone store, however the other store does have more stock. I did see a purple croc Lindy and a black box medor clutch at the department store on display last year!! So call them before he goes and otherwise let him go to Paris ;-)

Thank you so much for all your advice! Based on your thoughts and my dh's encouragement, I am taking him up on his offer to visit Paris for the day... Worst case he will being home some delicious macaroons:) I will keep you posted on the outcome. Thanks again for the advice!

I'm sure he will come back with something :-)
At least the wallet!

I wouldn't bother with the Amsterdam stores unless your prepared to just accept anything that's on the shelf at the time you go in. I visit both stores every year and have purchased many things. The staff are mainly friendly but don't mention Birkins or Kelly's ,the response will be we only sell these bags to locals.
So much for being in the EU. But if your not after a perticular bag it's a nice shop to visit.

Good luck in Paris. I go 3-4 times a year too, they have a lot more stock.

Passed through Amsterdam Schiphol airport boutique this week & noticed they had in the drawer the Annie Faivre 90 cm silk of Cavaliers du Caucase in the very desirable CW 09 Tabac/Orange/Multicolre. Price was 345 Euros less 9% for the VAT if you can show international boarding pass.

Very belated update... My DH went to Paris, as all you wonderful ladies here suggested and...he hit the jackpot!!! He took the very early train from Amsterdam and was first in line at FSH! I gave him tons of coaching and my list of most wanted styles/colors/sizes. He can be charming and apparently he used it well because he came back with a big orange box! He did not tell me what he bought until he got back home a day later. I was dying with anticipation but unfortunately got very sick so decided to wait until I was better to open the box since it is such a special, rare treat:) well, when I felt better, We opened it together and it is a beautiful Kelly, size 32 with gold hardware!! Only thing, we don't know the color?! I think it may be the new red-- rouge grenat/grenade? Red with pink undertones. My DH forgot what the SA said the color was and then he turned in the receipt for VAT refund! We are going to call FSH one day soon, but I will post pictures (once I figure out how!) to get "expert" opinions. Thank you to all here for their advice and encouragement....pictures tomorrow hopefully!
