Hello TPFers,

I have been lusting over the herbag for a while now and planning to get it during our upcoming trip to Amsterdam (Christmas/new years). What are the chances of scoring one in the boutique in Amsterdam? I appreciate the feedback on their inventory from your experience.

Many thanks!
There's a Herbag at Hermes.com europe page I think. Go and check.

Hello TPFers,

Will be heading to Amsterdam in January. Any idea which store I will have a better luck trying for a K/B? Are the stocks normally good in Amsterdam?

Appreciate any help I can get! Many thanks!

Never say never but sadly Amsterdam boutiques hardly offer B/K to walk ins. But yes there were a few ladies who got lucky enough to get offered one in the past. Stock in Jan is usually low due to Holidays season. But of course u can always ask. The biggest chance to get one as walk in would be FSH Paris! Its just 3hrs train ride from Amsterdam [emoji2] Good luck!

I would suggest hopping on a train and going to Paris. DH and I checked out both stores beginning of December. I was carrying my brand new Birkin from FSH. Maybe their stock was super low because the SAs seemed very reluctant to show us even an Evelyn or offer us much help. Good luck!

I don't think you'll get a B/K in Amsterdam... Without spending a serious amount of money on other things. Stock is mostly going to locals and tourists who are big spenders

Hello all! My DH has a business trip next week to Amsterdam and Hamburg. He even offered to make a side trip to Paris to look for Hermes items for me:), but I declined so he could get home sooner. What can he reasonably expect to be offered at the Amsterdam Hermes stores? I am hoping for a bag but seems like a long shot based on this thread? Any advice on how to approach the Amsterdam SAs would be appreciated!

They are super friendly and the vibe I got is if they have something they'll show it to you. Of course not a B or K since my understanding is that they leave those for local customers.

Amsterdam is super close to Paris by train so if you're really looking for something specific its probably worth the trip.

Very little chance to none when it comes to B or K. But other bags maybe. They have a few on display like the Evelyn or Bolide. Never seen a Lindy though. There are 2 H boutiques in Amsterdam. I suggest yr hubby goes to the main store and not the one which is located inside a dept store. Overall the stock on jewelry and bags are not so good :(

But I would just take the train to Paris if u want to have a bigger chance of getting a bag! It's just 3 hrs train ride away from Amsterdam. He can even go in day if he wants!

Thanks, na294! I am hoping for a Constance (who isn't??) but also looking for other items further down on the wish list (Lindty, garden party, dogon) so thinking this might be a good opportunity to have DH try for those items. It is VERY tempting to take him up on the offer to make a side trip to Paris, but that delays his return home by a whole day (we have 3 little ones) so trying to resist the temptation:)

I've only been to the Amsterdam stores once (that was in 2015), but here's what I recall.

The main store along the glitzy street has a better stock of bags. Of course, no B/K/Cs. Service was ok, but I got the sense that they have enough local VIPs to meet their sales goals. The H in the department store was smaller, but their service was better. I picked up a few hard-to-find twillies there.

Since Paris is so close, why not have your DH visit the stores there? Yes, you have 3 kids that you'd be with for one extra day. But to me, the prospect of scoring a B/K/C at an incredible price (the USD is at near historic highs against the euro) far outweighs the difficulty of being alone for one more day. If he's willing to go, let him go test his luck! In the end, it might yield a life-long treasure at the expense of "one more day" without him.

Cheers!

Their B and K are reserved for locals. If you are lucky, you may be able to score a lindy or garden party, but in bigger size. The Holland market likes bigger bags.

i find that the staff from the bigger store are not particularly friendly, somehow a bit snooty. On the contrary, staff from the smaller store that is inside the department store are friendlier.

In terms of collections for bags, surprisingly, I find nicer things in the smaller stores. However, if you are looking for other things (eg. jewelries, home items), you need to go to the bigger one.

Good luck.
