Hermès Exchange and Return Policy

I did this recently. They would only exchange for in stock items and would not issue me store credit.

Exactly what I experienced. I returned an item bought in France to a US boutique (although years back at this point), and the credit I received was for that day only and in that boutique. @stillfabulous, it may be best to call ahead to see if any of the items you want instead are actually in stock, or at least have a number of items in mind to request when you go in to exchange.

LolaWhisp that’s interesting. Thanks for posting. Did they limit you to an in-stock item in the same universe?
I vaguely recall I returned a SLG and applied the merchandise credit to another SLG that they happened to have in store. But I think there was a remaining unused merchandise credit that stayed on my profile.

They allowed me to put a hold on an item I preferred coming in and I was permitted to do the exchange then. It was equal so I don’t know how the handle overages.

Two days before Christmas I purchased some fine jewelry at an Hermes boutique in Paris. After further consideration, I’ve decided to return this piece and keep looking for the H jewelry item I was originally seeking.

I know it‘s possible to return to my local boutique an item purchased abroad because I once returned an H wallet I purchased in a London H boutique to my local boutique. I think they gave me a boutique credit that I used to purchased a similar item better suited to me from my local boutique. Since then, my local H SA was promoted, then later left H, so I can no longer ask him H policy on returning a purchase made abroad to my local H boutique.

I‘m hoping someone here will know.
You can exchange within 30 days from your purchase date and international purchases can only be exchanged no return. Also, can only exchange for items that are available in the boutique that day and no store credit either. However, they give you the same value exchange and you can pay for the difference. For example, white gold Finesse bracelet was €5,300 in Paris and it’s $6,900 here they will give you $6,900 credit and you can exchange for the same value without paying anything. If you exchange for something more than $6,900 you pay for the difference plus taxes on the difference only.

Depends on the store. My home store gives you purchase price on the receipt and if you buy out of country, they don’t credit the tax. This is true even if it’s purchased in a country that does not provide tax rebates.

Does anyone know if a purchase made abroad (H store located in Japanese dept store) is eligible for exchange at H boutique in Canada? I have the receipt, but the product codes are different than h.com; the shoeboxes don’t come with the product name/info either. So I’m wondering…

I have a recent store receipt, it says "Items purchased abroad are only eligible for exchange and may not be exchanged for bags or small leather goods if they are from another product category".

I am sure your receipt can help the store find the item/s if you have the name, I didn't know the codes are sometimes different for certain items (only learned this today).

Yes, I’ve returned a pair of gloves that did not fit. They were ordered online by my SA to the store and I received a refund on the credit card I paid with.
