So sorry this happened to you. The arrogance and ignorance of Hermes can be astounding at times.

I have ordered jewelry pieces from Hermes.com, and those packages were left at my front door without requiring a signature. Thousands of dollars in jewelry, and they can't even bother to ship with signature required!

And here I thought I was the only one....this happened to me too....I had just arrived back to the US this past summer and had jewelry delivered from Hermes.com to my sister's house--it was left on her front porch--needless to say I was surprised, but everything was there...the saving grace is the exclusivity of the neighborhood my sister lives in....otherwise, I think I would have been in the same situation as the OP....yikes.....

I can't understand why they don't require a signature. Here in the UK when I've ordered off H.com it's states that a signature is required upon delivery. UPS who deliver for them always ask for a signature and name before they hand over the parcel and they will not leave at another address.

I ordered a scarf from the Hermes.com US website in October. It was delivered by UPS and required a signature, although I was provided no tracking number by Hermes. The package wrapping was "distinctive" (not orange, but I can't say here what it was, for obvious reasons) and the return shipping name was kind of coded, but guessable. I doubt that anyone would target this as a valuable package - but crimes of opportunity are not discriminating.

So that's all the input I have from my own personal experience. lucywife, I am sorry this happened to you. I hope you pursue this through your credit card company and the delivery company, although I am not sure anyone will have much luck in changing the way Hermes does things from their end. Sad but true.

Thank you, guys, for your support.
I think the most upsetting part is that customers like myself and thousands others in simular situations are the least protected ones. My SA advised to do it through store next time, so whatever I order online will be shipped to the store address.

I have ordered several times from Hermes.com and all of my packages have required my signature. Fedex wouldn't leave any of them unless I was home and I actually had to go to Fedex and pick a couple of packages up after they tried to deliver more than once. I don't understand why a signature wasn't required for your package.

I do find the fact that Hermes doesn't give out tracking information very annoying, especially when you are the one paying for shipping!

Best of luck to you. Hermes's policy really doesn't make any sense sometimes and really causing trouble for their customers. Hopefully your credit card company could help

Just read this story and I'm sorry for you, lucywife, that this happened; not a very nice experience! I also had a bad experience the first (and last) time I ordered via H.com (ordered only one clic clac and they managed to send me the wrong color). I'm glad you got your refund though!

I've gotten several things from hermes.com and every delivery has come via Fed X and required a signature. On a different note, I found their customer service to be awful. They sent me a wrong color on an item and I e-mailed them twice to ask what to do and they never bothered to respond to either e-mail. For the amount of money I've spent with this company I'd think they would have all their ducks in a row with customer service. Apparently that is not the case.
