Hello everyone

I want to know your thoughts on my dilemma. I would love to get my first Hermes bag this year, and am happy to go the pre-loved route to get what I want. The bags that are currently on my wish list are below (I have also provided this wish list to my SA):

- Picotin18, Orange GHW
- K32, Box Sellier, GHW

If you were me, which bag would you purchase first? Would love to know all your thoughts, thank you!
Preloved, I would get the picotin first because it's low-hanging fruit (easier to find one in good condition compared to a Kelly in box, especially if you're open to different shades of Orange). I'm sure you could even try to score from the online website.

In store, I would get the Kelly first because getting the picotin first could delay a Kelly offer, depending on your location and relationship with your store.

Looking forward to hearing other perspectives. Best of luck and be sure to share the outcomes with us! ☺️

Thanks so much!! Will definitely share if I get lucky, hopefully one of these days!

Does anyone know the business model of some of these personal resellers who are selling everything from orans to jewelry to sushi plates at massive losses? There are some sellers who seem to have MASSIVE inventory… do they have personal ties to the SA/SM? Even if they get a BK at the end of it to resell, I don’t see how they can profit. And I mean, how can you walk in and buy 8 pairs of orans of different sizes and not get marked as a reseller? I’m very curious how this works.

Attaching anonymized pictures… I’m sure the posters are in this group; I genuinely mean no disrespect

They have SAs who are willing to look the other way in order to make the sales. They claim they are buying sandals for their moms/sisters/cousin/friends as gifts etc. I agree that there is no way they are making money, even when you include the eventual bag flip. Some lose tens of thousands on a single jewelry item, if they can even find a buyer, but the value to them seems to be showing off the bag offer at the end of the day on other social media channels (right before they list the bag for 3x retail). It’s really quite sad that they are so insecure in themselves that they need to go to all this trouble to try to flaunt to complete strangers online. I’m not sure who they even think they’re impressing because we all know how they got the bag (including the SAs who are just using them as cash cow middlemen salespeople) and that they cannot afford H in reality; throwing $20k away and spending months desperately hawking shoes and scarves like a used car salesman at half price in order to get a Birkin doesn’t make you someone anyone wants to emulate, it just makes you pitiful. IMO.

ETA- I also think it looks like they have so much inventory because a lot of the stuff doesn’t sell. So they make post after post with one newly acquired item and 20 items from the last post that didn’t sell, on repeat for months and sometimes years.

I find it incredibly frustrating that the boutiques seem to look the other way. These resellers are getting highly coveted bag offers including bags you normally see auctioned at Sotheby’s breaking sales records. Until I saw these things I’d had H on a bit of a pedestal. My impression has since changed these last few years and I am disappointed bc it seems that revenue and letting greedy flexers get the most coveted bags is more important than the loyal client. The most annoying thing about these resellers is they’re super addicted. Even though they’re taking losses they continue on spending. I wish H would really do something about it.

Honestly, I don’t see them getting enviable bag offers very often. Usually the absolute best they get are the hard to sell exotics or LE sucker bags (like the In and Out line).
I do agree that it can be frustrating when these pseudo-H-employees buy up all the stock of a new season shoes/RTW/ jewelry pieces that a real client actually wants and the whole thing makes H look bad. So embarrassing for everyone. It’s like MLM sales at this point. We should start calling the resellers “Hermes Huns” and “Boss Babes”

Agree it’s not all resellers who get the highly covetable bags. And I should clarify that there are those who seem to do it as a source of revenue, but there are others who are much smaller scale and sell almost everything or many items in their quest for a bag offer. I call both resellers but there is a distinction. The latter category seems more successful but I’ve seen many who just buy and sell and buy and sell with no bag offer. They’re desperately hoping they’ll get one but get strung along.

Separately, it’s surprising to me that H doesn’t seem to do any vetting on the “vvip” reseller client before offering something like a very unique one of a kind bag that only the vvips seem to covet. You’d think they’d check the online fb groups to see what the client had historically been up to and whether they’re truly worthy of an offer. I guess anyone who spends enough these days in the right category can walk out with a picnic or faubourg or Himalayan.

I have a vintage Birkin 35 in very good condition and was told it wasn’t worth much (less than 5K) because it’s courvechel leather. Rebag also refused online because they aren’t buying this style. It’s disappointing. Can anyone explain?

Smaller sizes are more on trend these days so size 35 sells for less. Nonetheless, if the condition is actually very good, it should be worth at least $7,000-8,000 as a private seller, depending on color and hardware. Third party resellers will give you less because they have to make money too and selling yourself comes with some risk.
