B-Mom, I got a close to 20-year-old and 17-year-old. They make bigger messes. I came THIS close to taking a picture of the exploded bomb that is DS' room to post on Chat. But then he went back to college and I miss him.

Well, before I killed the PF (I don't know how I do it, but I had a really long message and I lost all access to the forum...)
My boy, always a slob, disorganized, but organized enough to know that he needed to take a class during college summer break on organizational skills. He had to design the course for Sylvan. We actually got our money back. But, EB, I digress.
Our house has five bedrooms. Two on ground level (one has been converted to office/dressing suite for DS) and three upstairs. The way the second floor was designed was to be DS's bedroom attached to a guest room by a jack/jill bathroom. Then via a long, hallway, which is actually living space, couch, lamps, library, chairs, my old breakfront, the third bedroom and attached bath was supposed to be my studio. But, after 10 years of not using it, we made it into a luxurious guest room -- for all the important and luxury-expecting guests we host, LOL. Well, guess where DS decided to sleep and have his luxurious bath. The day after DS scrubbed, dusted, fixed cleaned that very room. No, DS could not sleep in his own messy room, but the clean, freshly dusted and straightened up room. No, I haven't been up there to check it out. And yes, I do not care where he sleeps as long as he comes home for his visits occasionally.
ps -- he usually takes his luxurious baths in mom's unused jacuzzi, but he uses the one furthest away from our bedroom to be quiet, because his baths can take hours. He is very considerate. He brought his own home-made bath salts!

LOL, BBL. I think my DS may be following your DS' path.

BUT as long as he comes home, communicates regularly and is doing OK, I will be happy.

BTW, isn't it a pretty day!!! I am in my living room where I just put down hardwood and the sunlight is reflecting off the floors and the room sparkles. I am a happy camper.

LOL! Same here! I can foresee LilOB saying that too when she's old enough to string together six words. Heck, I'm fairly sure during her tantrums that she's cussing me out in her own toddler language. If she weren't so darned cute...

Just wait 16 or so years when she sits you down and says, "I think it's time you and I should be equals." Trying to keep a straight face and put together an appropriate response," I can't remember what I told him. Probably something like, when "hell freezes over" or something to that effect.
Be strong, oh moms of toddlers, be strong....

*sigh* I am seriously wasting my day away ... I have lots of stuff to do yet I have spent all afternoon doing research on soft-sided luggage, cabin baggage allowances, safari packing lists, safari clothes, getting the weights of SO's camera equipment, reading monthly game reports, vaccinations needed for going on safari, etc. etc. etc. I haven't even the trip booked yet and already I'm looking at all that. Trying to figure out if we can just get away with having cabin baggage only rather than checking it in.

I am a total obsessive planner - I tend to plan stuff a million years in advance LOL.

Morning (by 5 minutes lol) girls! I am in the middle of taking down the Christmas decorations. The family room is done and the living room is partially done. I need my sons to go down the basement and bring up the plastic ornament boxes. oy. I hate this job, but Tuesday is trash day and I have to go out of town for a couple of days and my cleaners are coming Friday morning. And I can't get anything done afterwork. In my youth I used to do food shopping, diaper shopping, all sorts of chores in the evening. Now, I get home late, feed and take care of the dogs, put something in the microwave and collapse on the sofa.

I have to start playing the lotto. I'd love to retire.

Restricter, I am glad you are getting a second opinion. I have been thinking of you and Winky.

Avril--not to enable you, or anything, but planning for a safari is essential! The less you can bring, the better, as in most cases the luggage allowance for the actual safari is strict (limited space in Jeeps, small planes, etc.). So plan away! (DH and I went on safari about four years ago.)

Oh cool Mindi!!!! You went on safari? What country did you go to? We are gonna go to Kenya. Yep, the luggage allowance is like 15kg each! So gotta pack super light.

Oh wow, that's awesome! You were in Kenya and Tanzania? :D I can't wait, I absolutely CANNOT WAIT!!!!!! I have never been more excited before about a vacation! Only 7 months to go. We're going in the summer so we can get to see the great migration!
