OB, for what it's worth, PB went to Montessori at 2, I didn't have a choice, but I think it was the best decision I could make. Granted, she was 5 days/week, but for the socialization/stimulation/education I couldn't give her, I think it really did her good. Even if I didn't have to do it, I think I would have found her a 2-3 day program for those same reasons. And don't sell your mental/physical/emotional self short. If you aren't taken care of, you can't care for everyone else, KWIM?

Thanks for lending an ear and for the support, ladies! I've just had a rough week with her, and then on top of it all, I'm imagining that traumatic "first day of school" which I always planned to be when she was five, not three

Bmom, I'm glad to hear that you are happy with the Montessori school experience. I'm definitely considering that route for "real" school, i.e., kindergarten and up. It's nice to hear good things about it from parents with kids that I know are awesome, rather than just from zealous school directors :D

ATG, you saw Tom Colicchio!! How awesome!! The closest I've gotten to a celeb sighting was Eva Longoria and Tony Parker at Petsmart. But she wasn't carrying her fuschia croc Birkin, so I was like, meh, show up with your H bags and maybe I'll fall all over you like a crazed fan :D

I think I lucked out with a Montessori that started at 2 (they even helped potty-train her!) PB was "pre-school" from 2-5 when she went to public kinder. DH works for the school district, so we felt guilty not sending her to the place that "paid" for Montessori those few years, if that makes sense. Plus, the $$ we saved each month was TREMENDOUS! I look back on it now and honestly don't know A)how we did it and B)how people with more than 1 did it :nuts::nuts:.

And trust me, the first day will be more traumatic for you than LilOB. She'll be waving bye-bye with her cool shades and fun hat and you'll be .

HAHA!! I would do the same! Off fornsome adventures pre party! I'll update ya if I see something awesome!

Oh, Lala, that is the PITS! I had hemorrhagic (had to look up the spelling on that one) conjunctivitis in both eyes a few years ago. My sweet opthalmologist actually laughed when he saw me. I looked like an albino rabbit. The good news is it heals up pretty quickly (just a few days, as I recall) with the medication, so hang in there. Clearly, your immune system is vulnerable right now! Be sure you are eating as well as you can, and try to get a reasonable amount of sleep, okay?
OB, I think some early experiences in getting along with others, following directions, and spending some time away from Mom could be very healthy for a child. It's working well for Henry! Er, maybe that's not the best analogy. Gee, maybe Mindi the non-parent should mind her own beeswax. Ya think? Yeah, yeah, I think so, too.

Bmom, maybe that's what I'm really worried about...that she'll be too excited about leaving me! The school does have an awesome playground that she drools over every time we're there, not sure I can compete with an awesome playground :D

Mindi, you'd be surprised how similar raising HenHen is to raising LilOB. In fact, we could probably switch places and barely notice the change in species  Especially now that I'm potty training, geez the puddles on the floor! But you're right, the socialization is definitely good for her.

Yes, but the end of the day pick-up hug is worth every tear!!

My body is responding in solidarity with Mr. BBL---I'm currently sporting my own eye patch*, due to the pink-eye I now have. :push:

It's as though the germs from an entire preschool have taken up residence in my head. Ugh, ugh, ugh!!!!! :push: :push: :push:

*(I'm using my eye patch to hold the cool compress in place.)

Oh, I was just telling DH we needed to send the capt'n photos of the Sr. Captain. Oh, please just go to the Ritz, bill the school, and get better.

OB, If you remember the old Clairol commercials, and you probably won't, but there was one where the woman was running on the beach and her man saw her and they ran into each other's arms.
One evening, DH and I were picking DS up from daycare, he ran, dramatically, with arms outreached, right at me, and a little to the left right to Daddy's arms. Wow that hurt. And, I still managed to mold that kid enough to be enough of a mensch with most of himself intact.
lilOB will love school. All the badness that she learns from from the other kids, the germs, all of it, will just happen a few years earlier. She will also learn to be a little humbled, because all of the kids are "stars." That's what a headmaster of a school told me once. In the first of what turned out to be a series of a zillion principal-me meetings, when I said to my principal, "But my kid is a star..." and she stopped me and said, "they all are." All 10 of them in the class.

Lala, I used to suffer from what I was told was pink eye. It never went away. I was finally referred to Mass Eye and Ear and within five minutes, the doctor diagnosed me with blepheritis, which is like a dandruff of the eyelid. After a run of prednisone for the eye and baby shampoo wash, it went away, never to return.

Lol, BBL! I'll have to remember that at my first parent teacher conference (don't say that my child is a star, even though I know she really IS!). Ouch, having DD run to daddy first would really hurt! But Dad generally won't be there at pickup time, so it'll be my smiling mug that she sees after daycare :D

Oh my gosh, Mindi!!! That sounds horrible!!!!!!! I can't imagine how much that would hurt! :hugs:
