Hi gals! Finally I've managed to catch up :sunshine:

I took a day off work today, I really needed it. I went to bed early last night and was woken up at nearly midnight to this really insane screeching noise. SO and I both woke up (and normally I would sleep through anything). It sounded like a wailing baby at first but then SO thought it was either some cats or some foxes outside. He was gonna go out and check but then after a while they eventually shut up so we could go back to sleep. But jees, I had never heard such insane screeching before, it was ridiculous!!!

BBL - you've gotta be kidding me!!!! Ha ha :lolots: That is so funny!!!

A-T-G - hope you are feeling better! :flowers:

tesi - hi!!! :hugs: Are you talking about your oh-so-fabulous daughter who was on Elle.com?! That was such a great photo of her! And she rocked the Kelly :D I am so glad to hear that your mom is doing better than expected :hugs:

ck - how did Collin get on with his vaccinations?

IL - can't believe you guys get snow in SOUTH TEXAS!!!! :wtf:

Suzie - hope you are ok over there in Oz! I saw on the news last night that it was 39 degC in Sydney / Melbourne. Wow that is insanely hot.

BBL - sending vibes to your poor DH, he must be so sore from that fall! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

OB - Guinness is such a great name! Do you have a picture of her?

avril....in terms of the crazy screeching, we hear it here also, generally when it is warmer. i have heard it may be fox or opossum. it is disconcerting because it can sound like a baby in extreme distress.....
any yes, fraidy cat daughter is the one that appeared in the socialites thread around christmas. she is my big girl (older, taller, diva-like). my little girl is her polar opposite (tiny, independent, no makeup, intellectual beatnick)
amazing how different we all can be, from the get-go.
have a safe day everyone, on lockdown here due to icing. praying the upcoming rain washes all the ice away soon. warm and healthy vibes to all,
human and animal alike.

Better days are coming...

phil-no-shadow.jpg

here's what i'm loving this morning, i'm online checking in on the groundhog, and lo and behold, up pops a picture of nyc mayor michael bloomberg holding "staten island chuck" new york's answer to punxsutawney phil.
bloomberg must be thinking......seriously i'm holding a rodent with an umbrella overhead, and i'm a billionaire. what the heck???

Good morning all!

Tesi - score one for Mayor Mike. As I recall, Chuck bit him last year (or maybe the year before).

Good morning Mindi- the Chi-Capades sound both sad and hilarious. I'm surprised MissO hasn't composed a little sonnet about the indignity yet.

BBL - I'm so glad DH is feeling stiff but otherwise OK. Winky is home and behaving totally normally. He's a little tired from his ordeal yesterday, but he had a grand adventure. We stopped for pizza on the way home and I didn't want to leave him in the car, even for a minute or two so I brought the carrier in with me. His little nose was working overtime. And of course he had some pizza when we got home, in addition to turkey, roast beef and assorted Fancy Feast.

Sometimes he seems fine and other times I look at him and he looks so old and frail. It's scary and it's hard. The best I can really do for him is to treat him well, love him and hope for the best. He's 17. Every day is as good as it's going to get. Though he's got more energy than Jinjy.

OK, off to the salt mines go I.

Wow, BBL, that ABSOLUTELY resembles Henry, right down to the brown nose and pink-rimmed eyes! AND the ears/facial structure AND the coloring! Yup, that's our boy. Chisenji all the way. And a complete goofball, to boot. Thanks for finding that for me!

Good morning!!

Young Collin seemed to come through his shots no worse for wear. Cried just a little, but was not acting too much unlile himslef last night. It was just a little harder to get him to bed, but I would call it an overall success. Big sigh of relief in the (cold) CK house. Thanks for all the good thoughts!

We had a very icy morning--the commute was awful for people--but now it's rainy and the ice is melting fast. DH has been able to scrape the frozen slush off of our drive, so it may have a chance to dry out over the next couple of days. Until the next storm. Ugh.

just came in from de-icing my white pine trees. lost 4 large branches, one so large i can't even move it. i need mother nature to back away from my gardens.......
enough already!

Tesi-de-icing a pine tree sounds complicated. How is it done?

I spoke too soon about Collin. Daycare called and I'm on my way to get him. He could use some "Sleep and feel better vibes".

I'll check in later.

Safe travels (or no travels) for everyone dealing with the ice. Be careful!

Poor widdle Collin!!!

Tesi - you got a link to that pic? I missed it!

Mindi

Restricter! Glad you checked in. Sorry it's a crappy day and you're still in limbo for answers with Winky.

ck21, BBL, Purse

We are having rolling black outs here in South Texas. PITA.

It's still in the 20s with wind chills between 8 and 10. That's COLD for here. Tomorrow, we're supposed to have 1 inch of ice followed by about an inch of snow and then sleet.

Fun times.

And my house still isn't warmed back up, despite the heater running non-stop, since the first black out this am. I don't get how those help when everything runs triple time to try and catch up for hours and hours after.

And I'm moving north??? LOL!
