Hi !

Something new has happened to me and wanted to get your opinion and experience on it. I was offered a Birkin from my SA and I accepted the offer. But then a couple weeks later when the bag came in, she informed me that the SM didn’t approve it. Is that a new thing? Previously, I have gotten offers and once I accept I have always gotten the bag. Don’t they double check with SM to make sure client gets approved before offering the bag?

Also, is it just me or is 2021 inventory even lower than 2020!

That’s so disappointing. Did you have enough spend to be offered a bag? Was it a sought after specs? Did you receive an offer recently? I am thinking that maybe because of limited supply of bags they kinda want to give chance to others. But that’s really a bummer. Hope you get another offer soon

In my experience, the SM, or in larger boutiques, the department manager, allocates the bags to the SAs based on a number of factors. The SAs advocate for their specific clients. It’s possible they somehow double booked, or the bag did not come in, there was some other mix up or, worst case, a VVIP got it. I imagine they will try hard to make it up to you.

OMG, I am so sorry. I’ve never heard of that happening. Maybe the bag never came into the store due to some covid related delay? Fingers crossed the SA and SM make it up to you with an even better offer very soon. Edit: apologies, I didn’t read carefully that it had come in. If there is another boutique nearby, perhaps explore whether there is an SA there that you like better?

The SA didn’t give a lot of detail and I didn’t really ask further as it was over text (not in person). I didn’t want to pry I guess as it wouldn’t have changed the end result. I have gotten other b/k from her and that never had happened before so it threw me for a loop. I haven’t gotten another offer yet, still waiting. I want only a B25 and she did say inventory recently due to Covid is generally quite low, and B25 is in high demand (but isn’t it always?). Perhaps a VVIP did come and get the bag. . my spend has been over 11k.
