I was hoping to pass on this one, but I love the little pic of the Mothership in the center!

Dear scarfie sleuths, do we find the scenes in each frame familiar? Could these possibly be from other H scarf designs, or are they original drawings?

I'm apologising now if some people get eye-strain because of my query. :amuse:

I don't believe this scarf is previous designs here's why.. As someone who has no idea about H scarves I will preface this by saying it's 4:30am(was at time of writing now 5.30am) and I enjoy researching. Since it's called Le Tour du Monde which was a travel journal. The scarf appears to be based on the wonders of the world and French and Hermes history/culture imo other related stuff in brackets

We have:-

Great Pyramid of Giza and Spynx (there is a King Tut scarf)
Easter island (a maoi statue was loaned to France)
Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow (Napoleon legend has it he wanted to take it back with him)
Statue of Liberty (French design and construction, a gift, a statue of Liberty scarf)
Elephants for India

The company catered to the élite of Europe, North Africa, Russia, Asia, and the Americas

The cacti and rocks (a possible nod to Kermit Oliver of Texas the only American H designer and creator of the famous and loved as I see from this thread pani la shar pawnee - I'm right about this for sure I've just looked at his painting on this scarf and it's Pani La Shar Pawnee )

Tour De France
The kangaroo for France-Australian relations (stemming from WW1, also an Australian scarf)
The space shuttle (related to Jean-Loup Jacques Marie Chrétien, or all of the French astronauts)
Tightrope walker (Cirque du soleil....Quebec)
Christ The Redeemer created by French sculptor Paul Landowski with assistance from
and built by the Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in collaboration with the French engineer Albert Caquot
27 is the Citroën 2CV car launched at the 1948 Paris car show
Is 42 Isis? Notre-Dame de Paris is built on top of where The Temple of Isis was
5 China?
Others I'm interested in but couldn't i.d 52, 39, 56, 8, 5, 45,60, 22 (grand canyon? it's not Verdon Gorge ) 12 where is that figure sitting looks like it'd have an amazing view(Trolltunga, Norway?). 46 the hippo boat only place I can find that is Loxahatchee FL

I now want the history of all 62 squares

In short it's a collective of all of these things that have created and influenced H hence ending at as called in this thread the mothership

Thanks @litchi this was fun

My understanding of finesse is a scarf with a limited amount of colours (2).

Yes, that is my understanding as well, though I have seen people use the term with regard to scarves with 3 or 4 colors. I've always assumed that the term was being misused then, but what do I know?!?!

I was wondering about that, Croisette. I have the black/fuchsia cw that you have shown at the top of your (amazing) post! In the Insta pix it looks like there might be some green (?) along the border. Can't tell if that is going to be eventually hemmed or what. I thought that H never did "re-runs" of colors on re-prints and, other than with this scarf, don't recall seeing it before. Curious...

I've seen a green/kaki one on ebay recently. I believe they do the old colours with new hems, we will see Luvbolide.
