Austin is bigger than people think and a lot of people in tech are moving to Austin from California. There is most definitely a market for Hermes in Austin. Why they decided on Congress is another story. That street is full of funky shops and is really laid back. I can’t imagine H over there but I’m sure it will end up fabulous

Good to know! I know Austin well, like the back of my hand. And I still find it hard to believe. Austin is and has always been laid back. Going out even to the most chic or pricey restaurants or hangouts is still laid back! Congress makes sense because of the traffic there and very touristy. But the rest….just meh.

I have some disappointing info from my store today…unfortunately, there will not be a scarf specifically for the opening of the Austin store. Additionally, my SA said the opening has been pushed to Saturday, April 30.
They’ve done items other than scarves before. Unique limited bag charms, calvis with special heat stamps, Hawaii even had a special pineapple handbag with only five units made and a LE surfboard print garden party bag. Perhaps since it’s Austin, they felt scarves were too formal and are going for a different item instead.

I was in Austin last week during SXSW and walked by the new store. I was able to peek inside but it was too dark to take a photo. Not saying 4/30 is impossible, but they have a long way to go.
