From position in the teens (10-20), news has been

no guarantee we’d get any … cause the rest are appointments. We can wait but there are no guarantees. Meanwhile, it is 88 F here and there are still people ‘with appts’ just going in. The rate of people exiting is erratic. The mystery still continues…

Update: Still very little to no movement here. Rumors that they’re trying to let in more people in at a time (x per hour) but it’s a sight to be seen. The ‘vips’ are taking a really long time… like half the line dissipated. Those be 1221 property and beyond have left

anyone closer to the corner/door, let us back people know

i was one of those in that back half of the line, and they came and told us we wouldnt get in and should come another day so most people left In the back half.

Ive seen some people cut through the line but werent vips.
Also there are no kellys or birkins, so they say.

they do have a constance to go and those constance belt wallets.

VIPs pretty much coming in and cutting through the line of people waiting outside. It’s so sad. This should be an opening day, not a VIP day.
Agree. And I live in town and didn’t even know it had opened. Wouldn’t have known unless a fellow scarfie contacted me about it. Not even a polite email saying it was by appointment. So add me to the “meh” reviews.

You were spared the nightmare by far. There was false hope for the semi early crowd waiting 8+ hours and then security called it quits for all at 5 pm. The poor head of security was the bearer of bad news. Many people were disappointed to say the least given how poorly executed the grand opening was and they enabled the bad behavior of particular vips who didn’t get the quota bag they wanted/ saw others getting. A group got in at 11 am and didn’t leave until 5 pm at the ‘earliest.’ Bless the woman for calling them out (very politely and rightfully so) as they left, asking what were you doing for so long!!

the store and SAs were not ready by any means and these So called vips got away with whatever they wanted no matter their behavior. certain members even got to go back in despite already scoring hefty purchases, likely knowing a certain woman who left and came back multiple times throughout the day.

this really leaves a sour taste for austinites and those in the surrounding area who have been waiting quite a while

Preach Rxandbags. I called it quits around 330 pm when the security guy told us there was no guarantee that we would make it. I had been there since 6 am and waited 9.5 hrs to not even get in the store. Disappointing cannot even begin to describe it. Especially when you see all sorts of VIPs coming and going, some of them even going back a second time for more stuff.

I guess I didn't even realize that there were VIPs/appointments. I assumed that since Austin never had a boutique that it would be a true grand opening where it was first come first served. How naive of me.

It was super disappointing
Waited since 7am to not get in and see so many VIPs get offered bags left and right.

Wow- that is truly poorly organized and I'm sorry y'all had to wait so long for such disappointment. And I wasn't even interested in a bag. Just wanted to look at scarves and Apple watch bands (since like you, I thought it would be a real "grand opening" and not a VIP only event).

And yes, as a native Austinite (who has been purchasing from H online for 8 years) it does not seem a good start at all for the local crowd. I suspect they may know this and not particularly "care" about currying any favor with the Austin native crowd. I suspect, because of the choice of location (SoCo) that they are thinking to mainly garner their store sales from tourism, SXSW, Formula 1 and so forth.

We were the the first few who were early and i got to peek at some of the bags and items on display before they opened.
There was a bunch of bags there… a constance to go in mauve sylvestre, constance belt wallet(?) in vert bosphore (?), a bunch of cute picotin 18s, hac a dos in different colors. A birkin faubourg in the very middle of the display. Of course this bag was no longer then when i, a commoner, came in  5712D43A-592F-40E0-B047-F36FD56D0BD0.jpeg

I planned to go but dare not to so chickened out. Hope the traffic die down a bit in a week. They really should do a pre-sale with VIPs on Friday then public today. It sounds like really a bad experience today.

This was my thinking exactly. If they had already planned on giving vip first go, they should have just held a private day, instead of what happened. I’ll probably give it til at least Tuesday before trying again walking in. Too bad, I had wanted to look for old stock scarves.

I thought the store opened on Friday for special vips and press though (based on insta posts/ tik toks). Sounds like it was def an odd an unsuccessful “opening”
