Platinum doesn't oxidize, so chances are, they will not turn black. I own few platinum pieces from Tiffany and none of them turn black, but my silver pieces turn black since silver oxidizes. Yours look like is being tarnished, you can try to clean them at home first, this was how I cleaned most of my silver pieces. Fill a pot with water, heat to boil in low heat, then add a sheet of aluminum + a table spoon of baking soda then throw in all your silver pieces to remove the residues, let it boil for a minute. hope this helps

This is related to Platinum pieces that have been worked on, areas that were soldered are oxidizing, or something. So either they're using silver solder, or something is not being properly cleaned before returning to the owner. It definitely NEEDS to be addressed to Tiffany.

Hey thanks for the replies! But my pt dbty was never altered or repaired at the first place. I bought it brand new from the store and I dnt know when but it happened.

I'm now a little disappointed with their quality now. The reason I bought it is platinum is because I don't want it to tarnish at all! N knowing its there slightly bugs me. And if I had known I might have gone to get one custom made.

I really wonder if that is just the dbty problem because of the clasps but it already put me off from getting others pt necklaces or bracelet from them...

Yer I'll give u an update of what they say when I go pick it up. N well the lady who was having a look at it was a bit surprised about it and she showed it to her manager. Both seems like they never seen a problem like this before and they didn't know what it could be. As it supposedly to be platinum... They said they would send it to the workshop to have it looked at and fix it, if there's any problem they would let me know. But they were very nice n put it as urgent so I could have it back ASAP!

And they rang today said its ready to be picked up. So if I have time tmw, I'll go pick it up on da way home from work. N finger cross that they fixed it!

How did it go with your bracelet?

I've just sent my platinum DBTY bracelet to Tiffany today as it is also similarly black at the clasp per your picture.

They have said that it had to do with the solder and are going to replace the clasp for me - alas, I'd have to wait for up to 21 days!

Hey! Sorry been so busy at work lately! But yer finally went to collect it one weekend ago i think i forgot and there were sooooo many ppl in Tiffany!
So anyway it came back looking like brand new and the black or tarnish bit was gone! And I was trying to ask the SA about it and she seems like she doesn't really know what I'm talking about. So I couldn't get the explanation from them what it was. Anyway I left and went home with it. Not only until I got home and checking it over again that I realise they made a lil scratch on the bit with Tiffany & co bit. :( So I weren't very happy but I cnt be bother to take it back in.
I been quite careful with it since then. But so far it still holding up. Still shiny! So hopefully it's fix. :)

That's good to hear! Hopefully mine comes back OK too considering that we've never had it altered and it was purchased from T&Co directly a couple of years ago....
