Help on resetting old jewellery/diamonds

For the two eternity rings, will be USD210 each. Can make 2 rings from my diamonds. I choose to make for my middle finger; if ring finger, will be lower cost. I reckon will be better if I have a bigger size to have the flexibility to switch between the two fingers

She assures they will look brand. Will also clean all the diamonds so they will be sparkly. Quote unquote.

She's a jeweller my relatives have been using all these while. She has set many gems on 18k for them.

I believe the fee is pretty alright?

Hi an update on the modification price.

To set my two ear studs into a bendable thin bracelet, similar to the photo as posted, it is about USD560. She mentions she will order the bendable gold from Italy as they manufacture best bendable golds there (similar to Tiffany bendable T wire bracelet quality).

What do you think please?

I think that sounds very reasonable if the price is all in, the gold bracelet plus the mounting. Especially given the price of gold right now. It would be a gorgeous piece!

Just note this kind of bendable style can be tricky for daily wear….not sure if you plan to wear it regularly. It’s like the Tiffany T wire bracelet- you can see people on the Tiffany thread discuss their concern about the bracelet getting caught on things and bent out of shape. But if you get it fairly close fitting, I think chances of that happening are reduced!

Thanks. Ahhh I never thought of it getting caught on things. Good point. But I did think of the open bracelet one day being bent (from whatever reason and I do intend to wear 24/7). I think it will drive me insane if I see misalignment of the diamonds.

I might be better off turning them into an open ring? At least it will sit closer on me and will likely not catch on things.

This seems like a great price to me!
I had my engagement ring’s diamond reset on a 18k rose gold ring that a jeweler designed for me here in Switzerland. The design, the ring and the very few little diamonds costed us 2250.- CHF (about 2400.- USD) as a comparison..

Maybe yours is a "bigger" project with bigger stone and additional diamonds plus they factored in the design cost. Mine are really tiny diamonds and I know exactly what I want with no additional blings.
Will meet her up next week. I also am thinking of getting her to help me do a tennis bracelet (which I also posted in the subject thread).
I'll update again if I may be allowed to do so.

Well, I had the center diamond and he only added some little diamonds to the sides. And we told him about the design ;)
I made a quick research and the cost of living is something like 20% cheaper in Singapore compared to Switzerland. That can give an idea.. But everything hand crafted is expensive here. So I guess the prices you are offered are great
You will hopefully have some beautiful new pieces of jewelery specialy designed for you soon - Sure, please update us!

That makes sense. When it comes to labour, in Europe and USA are always the most expensive. But don't let me start here... in Singapore the housing and car prices are one of the highest in the world.
Oh well, we can't win all the time

Hi Purrsey, I read your thread with interest as I am considering resetting a pair of diamond earrings into an eternity band. The diamonds come from my grandmother and have great sentimental value, so I am interested in looking for a trustworthy and skilled jeweler who will do a good job and not swap my diamonds out for others (am I being paranoid here? I own hardly any jewelry and am not familiar with this world in general). If you don't mind posting photos of the final results (should you go ahead), and sharing your Singapore jeweler contact, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you.

I can totally relate to your concerns. That's my greatest fear too, having to have my precious land on a total stranger.

I shall post when they are done and then you may consider.

Just to update.

I will get 2 eternity rings, 1 open bracelet with the 2 ear stud diamonds, and melt whatever leftover WG I have from the old bracelet links into a plain WG ring. All for USD1,180. These include 8 small diamonds she needs to add to one of the eternity rings.

This is one of the rings she recommends to have two rows of diamonds, instead of single. Additional 8 diamonds to be added.

I'll update in 3 weeks time.B9796FC2-533A-43C9-A3E9-43C7008529AF.jpeg

thank you.

I'm not sure if you guys experienced this. I had cold feet the night before; reminiscing those moments I was gifted those jewellery (they are all gifts). I asked myself am I doing the right thing by "breaking them apart". I thought I shouldn't do it.

Then next morning I re-tracked myself. By resetting them, I think I give justice to them, rather than they wouldn't be seeing light anymore in the jewel box. Moreover every part of them will be relived after the remodelling ( all the gold will be melted and reused).

I know, I got too sentimental.
