Yes, they might be the hardest substance on earth but they do break  I broke one, a round brilliant, by whacking it on a door frame. It broke at the table, the very top. Sheared straight through the diamond. Ruined it completly, the other was a 2.0 princess, I have no idea how I did it. It sheared straight through the middle. Sometimes in diamonds there are weak areas like where a inclusion rests and if it is hit hard enough in the right spot it will break. It looks alot like a piece of glass that has been hit by a BB, the part inside and around the BB area kwim it has been sheared into two pieces. I hope I've explained it clear enough

that is why the clarity of a diamond is very important factor considerably.

With GIA grading, I would rather to get the vvs1 in H than the vs1 in G color.

Indeed:yes: it is always better to go higher even if you have to go smaller. The Venus is going to be a good diamond for me since the crystal is in the lower half of the diamond and of course I won't get to wear it much

:) I think I've made up my mind! I love the bead setting so I am going with that with four prongs for the Venus and two 2.0 eternity bands in the bead setting for both sides

Grace, he is indeed special  even when he's irritating!

Oh! Yes it is! I still have them, the first one I broke was a step up on my engagement ring. It was a little over a carat RB I don't wear it anymore, to afraid it will split. The other was a Mothers day gift I still wear it. The shear is smack in the middle but it does its best to shine :)

Oh.my.god. Chag you are so lucky - what a great hubby! I lean more toward the round cut - at least thats what I envision my Ering to be one day. Regardless, no matter what setting you are going to end up with one gorgeous ring!

i wish you lived close to me, so i could come over and admire your rings. i love looking at people's diamonds...but am always hesitant to comment when i see something spectacular.
