oh my, i can't imagine having such a diamond...i would just stare at it all day long and never get anything done. i love the story of your husband choosing it and saving it.
i love the 1st settings for each diamond. i am not partial to the schlumberger setting, it seems much too busy for such a large stone...you don't need any of the extra fluff!
no extra fluff needed I know my hubby is funny he asked me what I wanted for a present and I said an 8 carat and he's been arguing ever since! Had I known that he had been working on it for more than two years I would have kept my flap shut. He's pretty special he's already got his present from me and drives it everyday its the second love of his life
Chag, he IS lucky!!! I, too, vote for the Venus. There's something about that cut that really appeals to me.
I have also been planning a mounting change.....my stone is only 3.17 but it's an Hearts on Fire and sparkles so nicely. It deserves a pretty mount instead of the "temporary" Stuller piece I've had it in for years.
We decided on a piece made by an artist in Florida and it's been in the works for months! Chag, how do you wait for so long? The wait is getting to me now and I want the mount finished.
Chag, please do post your decision and the final product! I know it will be fabulous as the beautiful "choices" he's presented you with are just stunning!
Yes please post pics S! We would love to see a before and after on it well its been twenty years in the making actually! having a jeweler for a husband is a strange thing. He has like his own code of ethics he goes by that I have to follow. No kidding! When we go out he has to approve what I'm wearing if he doesnt I have to change it. I don't really mind I think he's cute. He takes all my big pieces and stores them for me in the safe. So I only get to see them every once in awhile, I have a beautiful gold rolex he takes and I just love it so I have lately been refusing to give it back LOL! I told him if he doesnt want me wearing it he can get me a gold Cartier roadster model that I can wear all the time. We will see if my attitude is working with him!
Oh Chag, your are spoilt for choice! Those diamonds are amazing, and how romantic to be renewing your vows! You and your DH are lucky to have each other Well, I am going against the grain here and vote for the Princess....maybe because that is the stone I have in my engagement ring
Yes, they might be the hardest substance on earth but they do break I broke one, a round brilliant, by whacking it on a door frame. It broke at the table, the very top. Sheared straight through the diamond. Ruined it completly, the other was a 2.0 princess, I have no idea how I did it. It sheared straight through the middle. Sometimes in diamonds there are weak areas like where a inclusion rests and if it is hit hard enough in the right spot it will break. It looks alot like a piece of glass that has been hit by a BB, the part inside and around the BB area kwim it has been sheared into two pieces. I hope I've explained it clear enough
