 My husband and I are are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in July this year. Most of the older pf members know that we are jewelers by trade and we sell to the retailers most of you buy from so design and manufacturing is our thing. But this is a little bit special;) as we will be renewing our vows this time around. So he has let me see what he is considering for me as my gift. The first one is a stunning 3.67 Decagonal Brilliant which is also known as a Venus cut diamond. It is round in shape but has been cut with ten sides to give it more fire and brilliance, truely a masterpiece. The color is "G" and the clarity is VS1 and the Fluorescence is Strong Blue. There is no inclusion with the exception of a pinpoint "Crystal" that cannot be seen without strong magnification. Cost on the little jewel is 80k (my cost);) He wants me to put it in a Tiffany Lucida type setting as it will also have two eternity bands one on each side roughly 2 carats a piece. I'm just not liking that setting though however I do like the Round Brilliant with bead set band. I just wanted to see what you all thought. There are a couple more that I like in the Tiffany styles but this diamond can't be closed in it has to be an open type setting for the cuts to do their thing. Here are some photos of the actual diamond, because of the fluorescence it looks a bit darker but in the sun it is so amazing beautiful it takes my breath away.
Stay tuned for the second one in just a bit:nuts:

Here's the second choice:heart: It's a Princess cut 4.09 carat, F Color and SI1 with two pinpoint Crystals that escape my eye (verrry hard to do) it has no Fluorescence and is indeed a treasure. My cost is 65k :smile1: For this one I am really liking the Tiffany square cut channel set band, I think it would be an amazing ring to showcase it. I wish I could post the Tiffany settings for you but I can't maybe someone else knows how to do this? Actually what I'll do is post a link to it

So here is the setting for the Princess http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?sku=21636584

And here is the setting for the Venus http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?sku=18715716

We're twins Swanky :yahoo: he has been hiding these since '06  lol I am still laughing about that, such a cutie. They are both from Russia directly, he picked them at the factory we have there in Smolensk with the expertise of a Master Cutter. He's very proud of these babies and I am amazed at how hard he worked at getting me the perfect diamond

Wow wow wow is all I can say!
Congrats on your anniversary & I can't wait to see what you decide... I have never seen such magnificant stones!
My only input would be that I love bead-set bands as opposed to channel set.

both stones are so beautiful. I really love the first one because the cut looks so unique and I bet it sparkles like crazy. All 3 setting options are gorgeous for that one and although I think the 2nd and 3rd one are prettier on their own they may detract from the stone. I think the 1st one would display the brilliance of the stone the best and just enhance it and not detract from it.

Both are breathtaking! What a lucky girl! And happy anniversary!

I think my favorite is the Venus with the first setting you posted for it. But I wonder how you'd arrange the prongs so the stone would showcase its beautiful shape? Are there 10 sides? I got distracted with all the faceting when I tried to count!

I changed from Princess to my RB so I lean towards the 1st stone.
Princess is classic, but still a little too contemporary for me. I'm finding that I am more drawn to natural shapes as opposed to hard lines. KWIM?
Oddly enough, my priness was set in a similar setting to that Tiffany! LOL!
Mine was set w/ channeled baguettes!

How many prongs for the Venus?
I have 6 and would to go down to 4-5 claws instead of my prongs.

^^ LOL! The second stone!? Or setting?

Swanky I think four prongs since he told me I can't wear it everyday anyway I think the less prongs more diamond you'll see. I am really horrible when wearing my rings  I've broken two big diamonds already

I would to but alas as expensive as they are he will only allow them out for family events etc and I have plenty of pieces to wear in between. He takes things from me regularly ;) something about keeping them "special"
