Is the diamond a modern cut or an older one, do you know? I think a 3 stone ring would be perfect for a diamond of this size and colour and would be a lovely right hand ring. You can set the diamond in a yellow gold cup to enhance its colour and have 2 white diamonds either side for contrast. Here’s an example for inspiration!

Im not exactly sure, because the stone is uncerted, so I’ll have to look at it again to be sure. But it’s quite an old stone, so I think it’ll probably count as an older cut. I honestly didn’t look into it much :D was just happy to receive it.

A 3 stone ring is another good idea that I can consider, thank you! I don’t like 3 stone rings where the side stones are close in size to the centre one, so I’ll have to see how the 1ct looks with maybe .3 on either side or something. That’s another option to consider when I can finally get it out to play with!

I am no help designing the setting but I would recommend setting the prongs in yellow gold to bring out the color if you weren’t planning on the entire ring.

Thank you for the suggestion! Yes I definitely plan on setting the stone in at least a yellow gold cup with yellow gold prongs even if I decide to do the rest of the ring in a different colour metal.

Your gypsy ring is really cool, thank you for the picture! I think I’ll have to try something like this on my finger to see how it looks, because I’m unsure of how the style would look on me. I tend to dress in a very classic “ladylike” style (lots of skirts or trousers with fitted blouses and scarves, or lace/plain fitted dresses; I rarely wear tshirts and jeans or casual clothes unless I’m on a beach vacation) but dress it up with lots of bling.

Hi ladies! I’ve recently received a diamond from someone who expressed a desire for me to wear it as an everyday right hand ring. I need help designing one!

The diamond is a pale yellow colour, approx 1ct, round, but I don’t think it qualifies as a “fancy yellow” - it’s more like an extremely yellow white diamond (probably something like letter N or O (edit: upon looking through pictures of diamonds on the Internet, I’d say it’s even warmer at like Q or R.)). I don’t want to do a simple solitaire on a band - that’s the style I will likely get for my engagement ring (it’s looking likely that I’ll be engaged within a year  and I’d like something I can wear on the right hand while wearing my engagement ring and wedding band on the left). I’m not too fussed if the ring looks “engagement-y” since I’ll be engaged soon enough anyway, and I don’t know that a cocktail ring is great for everyday wear.

If anyone has any design suggestions (pics are welcome - either stock images / from the internet / personally owned) I’m all ears (well, eyes ) thank you in advance!
A jewelry store I follow on Instagram just posted this. It’s stunning!

You definitely should try it! The design was popular in the Victorian/Edwardian era. The setting is more understated than you were initially looking at but still could be dressed up.

I’m just a bit reluctant because I don’t usually like bezels, but I think it’s worth a try in any case - maybe I’ll try on other gypsy rings to see how they look on my hand and how I feel about it :D

Yes- and low profiled for the most part- another benefit especially since the thread starter doesn’t want it to look like an e-ring.

I don’t mind if it looks like an engagement ring btw, since I do expect to be engaged in the near future as it is so I don’t need to worry about giving the wrong message etc. I just don’t want to do a single solitaire on a plain band, since that is the style I plan my engagement ring to be :)
