I own both the Ergo Vintage Tote in Natural and the Ergo Hobo in Turquoise. If you are only going to purchase one do get the Hobo in white but get the larger size. I own the medium Ergo white hobo No. 10740 and think it is too small in size for me, but it might work for you. I love the Ergo Hobos and own three from 2002 (first Ergo Collection) that I still wear, so just get anything Ergo. The white Ergo is so lovely.
I generally am a tote person (never having owned a hobo) and I tend to leave the zipper open anyway, so that part doesn't bother me, but I do like the Ergo hobo better than the tote. I'm thinking of buying it for my mom for her birthday/Mother's Day. Her first Coach! I can't decide between that or a Soho satchel.
I have the Ergo large tote in turquoise and I love it. I generally don't like how open a tote is but this one closes up nicely when it's on your shoulder. I also like to put a scarf inside my totes to cover my stuff and keep it from easily falling out in the car. A scarf moves aside real easy when you are trying to find things in your bag. All that said, I really love the Ergo hobo and am SERIOUSLY considering the large one in white.
I have the medium Ergo hobo in white and I love it! The shape is perfect, it's more secure, and it wears so well. The tote is pretty, but you just can't go wrong with the hobo.
