Help me decide if I should upgrade my Engagement ring

I actually really like the twisted setting!

When it comes to jewelry, I usually buy pieces that I can’t get out of my mind… I never buy on impulse (ok, ok, almost never), and if I can’t stop thinking about something I saw, I buy it.
Do you feel the same about the bigger diamond? Do you constantly think about it?
I would only buy it if it became an obsession

The shrinkage is real.
As far as the OP, if it is your dream to get two carats and you can comfortably afford it, why not.
I prefer the old setting also, but the new setting is more original, imo.

The longer you have the stone you get used to looking at it it and it feels smaller.

I say go for it. Compared to the price of a 2 carat the setting will cost nothing to replace. We purchased a 2.16ctw solitaire in a plain setting, a few months later I needed a resize due to pregnancy swelling. At the store, I fell in love with a diamond half eternity semi mount. I bought it on the spot they removed my diamond and reset it then gave me $300 off to keep the original setting. The diamond is the bulk of the cost, replace the setting later!

I love my set now, I think it looks beautiful with my eternity band! Your decision seems sound, however, if the clarity is only slightly less than yours the 2+carat is likely still the better buy. Sometimes it’s what the eye can see that matters more than what’s on a report. I’ve seen some reports that I feel were too generous with their grading.

Is it just me or is your 1.65 really similar in size to this 2ct you’re considering? Like if you eyeball it and not think about the number “2”.

Carat weight aside, some stones are spready and some are not.

If it were me upgrading, I would would want visual impact as well. What do your eyes tell you?
